Cheers to our CSUCI Communication capstone student! Her work was instrumental to our brand new website and Art& Gift Virtual Fair. We appreciate you Devon! #Repost @ci_comm_program Devon C.... For capstone, Devon decided to work alongside Step Up Ventura due to their mission - They provide services and access to childcare and preschool for children ages zero to five who are affected by homelessness. She stated she has a family member who has been affected by homelessness and can understand the hardships of their situation. Devon believes the most exciting moment she had working was the ability to design and reconstruct their entire website. Being able to construct and build a website with no prior experience was extremely helpful to my skill set and will be extensively utilized for future professions.I learned how to navigate Wix, use Canva, and expand my creative skills to further my education. . . Devon learned about this organization through my Capstone course, and is forever grateful that she stayed because she was able to create great relationships with her team. . . She mentions one of my favorite memories at CSUCI was attending the Winter Wonderland event. There was fake snow, a blow-up slide, and some food. I had a blast playing in the snow, and it was one of the first events I ever attended. . . Some advice she would give to a future student is to take an in-person class if possible and attend it as much as you can. Devon states you will develop more significant relationships with your peers and your professors, and you may even gain a friend out of it! She says being a COMM major has taught her that communication is all around us and helps to expand our knowledge of the world and the people around us. . Let’s go Devon!
