Our friends at Monterey County Community Action Partnership have a quick survey they would like Soledad residents to participate in. Finishing the year strong! We've added Officer Brian Solis to the force. He is a veteran officer, who comes to us from the Gonzales Police Department. Officer Solis also serves as one of our Field Training Officers. Officer Hector Varela was sworn in today as our newest Reserve Police Officer. Officer Varela formerly served as a Reserve Police Officer with the Gonzales Police Department. Both embrace the Community Policing spirit and engagement we ask of our officers and we are proud to have them as the newest members of the Soledad Police Department family.

At approximately 1000 hours, our department, Homeland Security Investigations Agents, and the Salinas Police Department served a residential search warrant on California Street in Salinas. The warrant was for the search of illegal drug manufacturing paraphernalia. Two pill press dies were located at the residence, which are used to manufacture narcotic M-30 pills. One resident was arrested and transported to the Soledad Police Department for booking. This is an ongoing effort to identify and arrest those responsible for distributing dangerous drugs in Monterey County.

Cutest little pumpkin in the patch

Over the next couple of months, you will see our officers transitioning to our new patch. We are incredibly proud of how it shows our place in this beautiful valley through our city seal while at the same time representing our Pinnacles National Monument.

October is 4H month and we’d like to thank the Fierro sisters from Gonzales 4H for the awesome flag pumpkin. Monterey County 4-H Program, has approximately 800 youth enrolled in local 4-H programs and nearly 300 adult volunteers engaging youth in varied learning experiences. There are fourteen clubs in the county, covering almost all geographic areas. Their mission is to engage youth in reaching their fullest potential while advancing the field of youth development.
