Today we welcomed a new member to the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo Daybreak! Gary Borjan joins us as branch manager of Community West Bank. Even though the club’s golf tournament was canceled, we have still been selling our ever popular Daybreak Dollars, which has become the big fundraising event for the 2020-2021 rotary year. The proceeds from ticket sales go to fund teacher grants, student scholarships and community grants. This year for the first time, we were able to get corporate sponsors to be featured on each Daybreak Dollar card. This morning we had Van Curaza from Operation Surf speak to our club about how they provide surf camps to military veterans and the impact they have on their mental and physical health. Because of their support to our military, they have been chosen as the recipient of the President’s Club proceeds! Had a great time partnering with the SLO Throwers as we participated in the club’s first community service project of the 2020-2021 year!

While this week our club rests because of Labor Day, last week we were treated to a moving presentation from 17 Strong Founders Holly & Steve Teixeira. They shared the story of the organization and the wonderful benefits they provide to cancer survivors through their Victory Trips. Our club is proud to partner with them as they will be the recipient of our district funds for the 2020-2021 rotary year! #rotarydaybreakslo #17_strong

Serving dogs and cats alike since 1998, this is a one of a kind local shop featuring food, treats, toys and other supplies! This week in rotary we had Adam Stowe, GM of SLO Blues Baseball speak about the state of the team and the impact covid has had on the baseball community.
