More wedding bouquets featuring the gorgeous anthurium from Green Point Nurseries, Inc. The Lavender Lady variety was been especially popular with brides over the years. Other touches of the tropics include trimmed mini monstera leaves, rolled calathea and rolled ti leaves which add dimension and texture. And, of course, orchids! Gotta have 'em to complete this look.

While we're sheltering at home, we've been creating designs using the fantastic tropical foliage and flowers from Green Point Nurseries, Inc and adding in materials from our garden. We LOVE the Limelight anthurium and paired them with agapanthus, succulents, nandina buds, jasmine vine and other goodies for this contemporary wedding bouquet. Designed in an Oasis European Bouquet Holder and incorporating an Oasis Wire Armature, this summery bouquet is light with lots of movement. Correction: The anthurium variety is Tropical Lime. :)

Here are a few closeup pics of the braided nautilus shell seen in today’s how-tovideo. The design features flowers and foliage from Green Point Nursery in Hilo HI, a cypress knee and some agapanthus and sago palm from my garden. Don’t forget- Commodore TeePee foliage is also great to braid if you don’t have Areca palm handy.

How to braid a nautilus shell from an Areca palm leaf. Watch this video for a step-by-step lesson in how to transform a palm leaf into a unique design element. Special thanks to Charlie Gropetti for the Frankie Shelton T-shirt and to Green Point Nursery for the fantastic foliage and flowers. See our next post for closeups of the completed arrangement.

Palm Sunday church arrangements designed by our team over the years - plus an incredible palm braiding project complete by Phan Lai. Please remember to support your houses of worship so they can add the beauty of flowers to their sanctuaries.

Tropical inspiration for your weekend. Here are a few photos of recent tropical designs created by our students and teaching team. As always, wonderful Hawaiian tropical flowers and foliage from Green Point and great California flowers from Mellano & Company. What's you favorite tropical flower or foliage?

For florists who say they can't weave a bird without foliage, get creative! Phil used an old floral poster for this one and there are many other items in your house to use: ribbon, butcher paper, newspaper, gift wrap, thin foam core or Oasis flat wire. He's even made a few with leather over the years and has crafted some tiny ones for boutonnieres with teepee foliage. Phil has been delighted to see the pics of your birds being posted from all over the US.
