A Gallop Poll in 2013 found that 70% of Americans were in favor of allowing doctors to end a terminal patient’s life by some painless means. The number dropped to 50% when asked whether a doctor should assist the patient to commit suicide. Semantics aside, Dying with Dignity legislation has historically been defeated in California.
