Harp Ensemble of San Jose Youth Symphony

Season of Hope The San Jose Youth Symphony Harp Ensemble is the premier youth harp ensemble of Northern California. In 2014 the San Jose Youth Symphony began the Harp Ensemble under the direction of Kristal Schwarz. The San Jose Youth Symphony Harp Ensemble is a youth ensemble dedicated to empowering young harpists. Learning with other harpists is an engaging and constructive way to grow as a musician. It provides an environment where students can apply their personal study a...s well as a place to learn and enhance proficiency in ensemble techniques and general life skills. Students learn teamwork, leadership skills, how to listen and follow each other, how to watch a conductor, the responsibility of soloing, how to prepare music on time, and how to cultivate the skill sets of a professional musician. In 2017 we were honored with the chance to perform at the 43rd National Harp Conference at Redlands University and received much praise as well as began our collaboration with famous composers Isaiah Castro and Willi Maerz.
