Healthcare workers are working around the clock and need your help. Don't travel or gather. Quarantine for 10 days if you've been gathering or traveling. Isolate if you experience any symptoms. This can protect others and help alleviate the dire situation at our hospitals.

Where we are and where we’re headed is alarming. However, there are things we can do to slow the surge: - Cancel travel plans - Don’t see people you don't live with... - ALWAYS wear a face covering when outside your home We can do this together.

Multiple activities and actions are responsible for the continued surge including small and large gatherings in both public places like restaurant and private homes, unsafe work environments and people spending more time intermingling with others as part of their daily routines. The temporary Stay at Home order gives us a chance to pause on activities that increase the risk of transmitting the virus so that we can get the surge under control. We can do this together - stay home as much as possible, avoid seeing other people & keep your face covering on.

The high number of new cases include backlog cases due to technical issues with data reporting systems this week. Public Health anticipates receiving additional backlog test results over the next few days.

In the last 3 weeks, we’ve completed interviews with 13,278 people who were positive for #COVID19. The vast majority of close contacts were in the person’s household, but, over 700 were close contacts in social situations. Private gatherings are permitted with strict protocols to make them as safe as possible - outdoors ONLY, up to 3 stable households, with face coverings, physical distancing and for less than 2 hours. We must all do our part to #SlowTheSpread

In the upcoming fall/winter holiday season, wearing your face covering and physical distancing, even when gathering outdoors with people you know, is going to be crucial as we move through recovery in LA County. These are the best tools we have to #SlowTheSpread
