Silver Lake Psychotherapy is looking to hire an Intake Coordinator/Office Manager. We are a group private practice made up of generally warm, respectful clinicians who provide mostly psychodynamic psychotherapy to east Los Angeles. Role Description: The Intake Coordinator/Office Manager answers inquiries from potential new patients via phone and email and matches them with the right therapist on our team. This role will require you to coordinate schedules, provide information... and guidance about our services offered, and organize the administrative tasks of the office. This is an excellent opportunity to understand the inner workings of private practice and a small local business. In addition to coordinating intakes, the job also includes general administrative and office management tasks such as ordering supplies, arranging appointments with vendors, and making simple updates to our blog/website. The role is part time and requires 8-10 hours per week, depending on the need each week. All of the work may be completed remotely, and the hours you choose to work during the week are flexible, though some time is required each day to reply to calls and emails. Ideally the candidate would like to settle in to this position for the long term/multiple years. Qualifications: Must have warm customer service skills, good organizational skills, and general comfort/proficiency with online programs. Interest in psychotherapy/mental health a plus. Compensation is $20/hour. Please send resume and cover letter to [email protected]

That Discomfort You're Feeling Is Grief: In a time of unprecedented unknowns, there is immense power in the ability to name what we are feeling. While social distancing has us each wrestling with our own emotions, there may be an underlying experience that binds us all: grief. David Kessler, one of the world’s experts on grief, describes how we are experiencing a universal sense of loss during COVID-19, and what we may be able to do about it. http://www.silverlakepsych.com//...that-discomfort-youre-feel -By Jason Karasev, M.A., Associate Marriage & Family Therapist www.jasonkarasev.com

In honor of Pride month, The American Psychoanalytic Assoc. has issued an apology for their past views on homosexuality. This apology is long overdue, but it is very meaningful. Many patients sought treatment for decades only to be demeaned and in some cases damaged by their therapists prejudices. Let's hope this apology marks a new era in mental health possibilities for the LGBTQ+ community. http://www.silverlakepsych.com//us-psychoanalysts-apologiz
