August 16, 2018 Diary, I have finally done it, after spending my entire life in California I’m moving to Arizona.... My beautiful state has changed considerably. I've contemplated this move for a very long time, the first big problem was Ovarian Cancer, fighting that for 12 years and feeling as if I was a prisoner to my health I decided to break out. I feel the cancer is under control, my latest issue was hemoglobin counts being off, now they are right on track, I was receiving shots once a week for the last year and a half. In the past I have listed my home for sale twice with no offer period, it wasn't time for me to move, God helped by putting a hold on any moves, it wasn't time yet. Recently I decided to try again, I prayed on it, this time things changed. The first day of listing I had an offer, within the next two days two more counter offers came in. When God moves things change, next I looked online for a house to tour in Arizona one that would be right next to the Colorado River, I found it the first day. Beautiful 4 bedrooms 4 bathrooms 4000 sq. ft. fully furnished, my own dock. I clearly was not looking for a larger house, this one just caught my eye, I fell in love with it from the start. My kids are happy mom can buy a ski boat, a pontoon boat, and jet skis. ( Let them dream ) Pontoon yes, one jet ski yes that's it. My move in date is September 1, 2018 Serious business is the packing, I’m trying not to stress out. I pray healing for you all, one day this disease will be under control, Immunotherapy is making large strides, it certainly works for me and many others. Blessings Sharon
Running in my Mother’s Memory donna6 April 11, 2018, marked nine years since I lost one of the most important people in my life. 10 years before that date, my mother began the last year of her life with us. I decided to honor her memory by running 10 ovarian cancer awareness Run/Walks between April 2018 and April 2019. I was never a huge runner. When I was younger I only used running to condition for sports, but as I got older I decided to use it to challenge myself. Last yea...r I trained for and completed two half marathons just to see if I could run that long because I wasn’t sure that I could. Although finishing the races was an amazing feeling, it took a lot of dedication for me to train to that level. Since I’m not a natural runner, and I could not devote enough time to keep up that level of training, I decided shorter runs would be a better idea. I also tried to find a half marathon for ovarian cancer but was unsuccessful. I have participated in one or two ovarian cancer run/walks a year for the past couple of years with the NOCC New Jersey Chapter. I knew there were multiple races across the country, so I looked at different Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer events. I wasn’t able to participate in a total of 10, so I expanded my search to different organizations in different locations. All of the organizations are strongly committed to breaking the silence on ovarian cancer, raising money for research, honoring Survivors, and remembering loved ones that have passed. I not only decided to do this run to honor my mother’s memory but also to raise awareness of this silent killer. My mother was amazing and fought her hardest, but the cancer was found too late. Even after many rounds of chemo and radiation, her cancer came right back. If my 10 races can bring awareness of the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer to one woman, it is worth it. As a BRCA 1 mutation carrier like my mother, I know it is extremely important to know the signs and symptoms. Being aware of any changes in your own body is the only solid detection we have and it could make the difference. We fight for early detection and we fight for a cure for our mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, and friends.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month Woman SmilingSeptember is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. There are more than just a few activities you can start participating in to be supportive this month. Among women, cancer of the ovaries accounts for almost three per cent. In death related to cancer in women, it is the fifth cause which is most common. Among cancers, it is also the ninth most common. Cancers such as this are curable but this is not an easy feat. One of the D...Continue reading
