Mr. Fred Hayes was a huge part of the SBCCA serving as a director and officer. Fred was a major driving force with the continued growth and success of the local bred beef classes at the Santa Barbara County Fair for years. There is a huge hole in all our hearts and in the farming and ranching community here on the central coast. Fred was a true leader in the industry and gave so much to so many. He booming voice and laugh are going to be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

The University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine is investigating how California livestock (cattle, horse, sheep, goat, pig, llama, alpaca, bee and other) producers have been impacted by wildfires in the last 10 years. The following 10-15 minute survey will collect information on animal, production, feed, grazing, and property losses. This study will provide data to inform policy and emergency response planning to support our livestock community. Thank you for your participation! Website: http://bit.ly/UCDavisFIRE
