There is no place like home. Escrow closed for SBCAG's interregional transit facility in the City of Goleta Government, the former site of Student Transportation of America. The property will serve SBCAG’s Clean Air Express and Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) Coastal Express and accommodate the maintenance, operations, and storage of equipment. In 30 years of service, the Clean Air Express has never had a place it could call home, said Marjie Kirn, executiv...e director of SBCAG. Instead of finding various locations to park and store equipment along Camino del Remedio in Santa Barbara, we can now centralize the operation, improve public transit service and support a zero-emission future. Don't get caught in the dark! The annual Fall bike safety campaign is underway, put on by SBCAG Traffic Solutions community partner's Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition and COAST Santa Barbara in recognition of our shorter daylight hours. These organizations offered rechargeable lightsand youth helmetsat low cost on State Street in Downtown Santa Barbara yesterday. More distributions are planned in the South Coast and North County, find out more at SBBIKE.org or visit their social media pages. Take advantage of these fall safety events that offer essential equipment for all residents to confidently and responsibly enjoy bicycling on our local streets and neighborhoods. Modernizing public transit services >>> we are pleased to share by mid-December we are on track to install devices on select Clean Air Express buses to offer customers the option to pay fares electronically while onboard the bus. We are looking for volunteers to help test this system before it is officially rolled out to customers in early 2021. If you are interested, please send an email to [email protected]. Thanks to a partnership with the California State Tran...sportation Agency, devices are scheduled to be installed to allow riders to tap their credit card, phone, or smartwatch to pay for their ride (without having to use a traditional transit pass). The Clean Air Express commuter bus service is a weekday commuter bus program serving residents of Lompoc, Santa Maria, Buellton, Solvang, and adjacent unincorporated areas commuting to Goleta and Santa Barbara. The Clean Air Express is managed by SBCAG and is fully funded by Measure A, Santa Barbara County's local transportation sales tax measure.
