1980 saw a 2nd generation vest as Bates Leather was no longer making vest. This royal blue version was supplies by Leather Odessey in Hayward. In an attempt to be more visible on the road a brighter Safety Blue was found. We were seen quite well, but we also obtained the name of "Smurfs" because of the color. Needing to get away from being a cartoon character, and wanting to acknowledge our upcoming anniversary, the "Bad Boy"vest was designed, Denim, Rockers, and Anniversa...ry Patch took us into the 1990's. All 3 of these vests hang in Papa's closet. While the original owner of the Safety Blue vest belonged to Joe White.

Bad Boy vest was short lived and blue leather made a return while retaining a smaller version of the official anniversary patch. This vest suffered from premature aging as the blue turned to grey quickly. Today's members are wearing a blue leather vest (color varies widely) and a fuller sized patch. Pricing on blue leather can be overwhelming so our logo can now also be seen on shirts, jackets, hoodies, and jerseys. Both owned by Papa (Current vest is Midnight Blue and sports a 40 years of service patch )

COLORS! COLORS! COLORS! The SFMC has had many forms of apparel to affix its logo to. While we still wear many different styles of garments, most of the motorcycle community would consider only the vest to be "true" colors. This is an example of the 1st generation vest. Circa pre 1980. Color Bates Blue... It became popular during the days when the club was riding Choppers and Customs. At that time Past President John Anderson's started most rides from the Cycle Odessey Shop in Daly City. Original Owner . . . Joannie "Pooch" Zanoni Current Owner . . . Sheree "Gabby" Schiller
