TO: SVGLS Membership DATE: April 12, 2021 Subject: 2021 Season Update The SVGLS Board of Directors met on April 8th to discuss options for fielding our next season. We faced several challenges in this process namely with delayed access to the Softball Complex until late May. This pushed our start date out too close to the summer months where high temperatures can lead to unsafe conditions. We had to consider the safety of our members after such a long period of inactivity in... addition to a compressed timeframe to organize with limited resources. The Board voted for a Summer/Fall Season with a start date of Monday, August 16, 2021 and is expected to run approximately 10 weeks. We expect to see some hot days in the beginning of our season, however that should give way to cooler nights as the season progresses. We’ll be working with our players and coaches to organize and plan SVGLS sponsored practices and skills clinics between now and our season start date. We’ll need your help to make the most of this time. Please take a minute to complete the survey posted to our Facebook page. Your feedback is valuable in helping us plan and organize. We understand the long break has been difficult for everyone. The last thing we wanted was to delay our season any further. Unlike other city parks, The Sacramento Softball complex is a staffed facility requiring city personnel both to make the complex available and to sanitize high contact areas in between games. The delays were part of the city’s efforts to re-open gradually and safely. We ask for everyone’s patience and thank you for your understanding. We miss your friendship and hope to see you all soon! SVGLS 2020 FALL SEASON UPDATE Dear SVGLS Members, We hope you're all doing well and doing your best to stay safe. We know this has been a challenging time for everyone. As you're all aware COVID-19 restrictions have been put back in place due to the increased infection rates throughout our state. We have gone back to near stage 1 restrictions. This means city parks and facilities remain closed. The most recent update from the city indicates any reopening is uncertain and woul...d not include team sports. Your SVGLS Board of Directors met on July 21st and has made the difficult decision to cancel any league play and short programs for the remainder of 2020. We’ll put our best efforts into organizing a strong 2021 Spring Season! We expect to see a large number of new and returning players after such a long and difficult break in our history. It’ll be a great way to celebrate 10+ years as Sacramento’s only LGBT+ softball league! We understand many of our members have been affected by continued closures and restrictions. If you are in need of assistance, please reach out to any board member or feel free to post in our SVGLS group with what you need. We are all facing different circumstances in one way or the other. Let’s do the best we can to help each other through this difficult time. SVGLS Spring Season 2020 - Important Update Dear SVGLS Members, We hope everyone is doing well and have found ways to stay active, engaged, and safe while sheltering at home. This has been a challenging time for all of us filled with concern and so much uncertainty. We continue to be under a Shelter at Home Order until further notice. It is expected that this order could continue beyond May 1st. ... This has been an unprecedented moment in our history both as a league and community. We are facing multiple challenges in launching our 2020 season due to an unknown end to the COVID-19 shelter in place and social distancing guidelines. Additionally, we recognize the financial impact to our members due to reduced work hours, unemployment, and for those facing unforeseen disruptions in their homes. The SVGLS Board has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Spring Season out of an abundance of concern for the overall safety and health of our members. Moving forward the Board will instead focus on the 2020 Fall Season pending any new developments. We know this is a difficult time for everyone. Know that you’re not alone. We will face the current challenges together as a community. **Spring Season Start Date Postponed** Our tentative start date is now April 13th pending further developments. This was due to the City of Sacramento postponing all programs & use of fields until April 12th subject to further review. We are continuing to review our next steps based on what’s being communicated and in line with our community’s best interest....
