"My Dog Stupid" was one of this year's 10 feature picks for the Sac French Film Fest and it's now available on demand for $10 at the link below, with a portion going to the Fest. It's a neat erudite comedy that might be the least dog oriented film about a dog ever made. Here, the dog is a catalyst for change for a writer and his family, and the film is full of wry observations on marriage and parenthood through the eyes and words of that writer. For example, whether or not one might be better off with children or a new Porsche. It's a light but meaningful film, very French, and elevated by its excellent leads.

Are you interested in taking a film-making class in the fall? Typically our film production classes are taught from the Yuba College campus but we are going to be doing some of the classes on-line this semester so you can basically take it from wherever you want. Below is the link Yuba College admissions page and then you will have to search for MCOMM 5 and MCOMM 15. MCOMM 5 is a beginning class in media production and MCOMM 15 is a single camera documentary class. I will be teaching both classes. It should be a good chance to sharpen your skills and meet some new people even if it is in a virtual environment. https://yc.yccd.edu/admissions/new-students/

TODAY is the first day of the 19th Sacramento French Film Festival. As with many organizations, our good friends at the SFFF have had to reinvent themselves for the pandemic, building an online platform through which you can rent and watch 10 films over 10 days. Individual films are $12 and a festival pass that buys you access to all 10 films is $90. One pleasant upside is that it's not physically limited to Sacramento anymore - so people in other locations can also watch these 10 carefully selected and otherwise unavailable films, and participate in online discussions. So spread the word! And for those other festival folks and arts organizations interested in how to manage during these difficult times, here's a well thought out model: https://2020.sacramentofrenchfilmfestival.org/
