Roseville Rod & Custom 27.06.2021

The Goodguys Rod and Custom Association series of eighteen events for 2019 draws to a close this weekend at Westworld of Scottsdale, in Scottsdale, Arizona. This event, the 22nd Speedway Motors Southwest Nationals, is the location where the year's major category award winners are presented with a magnificent, and permanent, reminder of their achievements. Amadeo and Teri Angelo are there to accept the beautiful Snap-On tool chest trophy seen below, emblazoned with images of ...their Ardun flathead powered 1936 Ford three window coupe. This car was crowned the Goodguys 2019 Tanks, Inc. Hot Rod of the Year last May at the 14th Nashville Nationals in Nashville, Tennessee. It is also featured on the cover of the September issue of Goodguys Gazette. Inside that issue are more photos and a complete description of the many intricate details included in it's construction. Roseville Rod and Custom is very proud to have been selected to assist the Angelos in the creation of their unique vehicle, and to be in Scottsdale for the presentation of this very significant trophy. This article appeared in a recent issue of onallcylinders.com, an internet blog of Summit Racing Equipment. Roseville Rod and Custom was pleased to see that Summit selected an Associated Press, (AP), photo of the Blanchard-Bacik-York lakester to help illustrate the effort to preserve the natural wonder of the Bonneville Salt Flats. NEWS & CAR CULTURE Racing Community Pushes $50 Million Proposal to Save the Bonneville Salt Flats Posted by Will Schertz on February 27, 2019 at ...12:16 pm Tweet Bonneville Salt Flats Race Car (Image/Associated Press) The Bonneville Salt Flatsone of the world’s greatest natural wonders, and an iconic bucket-list travel destination for automotive enthusiasts everywhereis in dire straits. Over time, the hard crust that forms the surface of the flats has gradually eroded and shifted southward, leaving it thinner andwellless salty. Surprisingly, the surface is reported to be so soft in some areas that it may soon become unsafe for fast drivinga sad reality that the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association is hoping to change. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the association is asking the Bureau of Land Management to spend $50 million to ramp up an existing experimental salt lay-down program that it and federal land managers believe could thicken the crust. Since the late ’90s, Utah has been pumping brine from potash mine ponds south of Interstate 80 to the salt flats, the article reported. The proposal would accelerate these efforts through a new 10-year program that would pump up to 540 million gallons of brine onto the flats in hopes of depositing 1.5 million tons of new salt onto the flats each year. The Salt Lake Tribune reported that the $50 million price tag takes into account the need for construction of new ponds and ditches and installation of pipelines and pumps. The Specialty Equipment Market Association got in on the action, asking Utah residents and others who care about the Bonneville Salt Flats to send a letter to the state’s lawmakers urging them to help fund the program through the state’s budget. SEMA and other backers of the proposal are lobbying for a $5 million appropriation to help persuade the federal government to cover the remainder of the cost. This photo is of the Blanchard-Bacik-York B/Blown Gas Lakester in line for a run down the long course at Bonneville Speed Week 2016. That’s team member Xavier Vasquez on the phone asking for last minute advice from the speed gods. Many thanks to Summit Racing Equipment and onallcylinders.com for the memories! SAVE THE SALT.
