A new partnership between RCOE and the Cesar Chavez Foundation brings Expanded Digital Learning Summer Program to students from Coachella Valley and Palm Springs Unified School Districts, as well as the Riverside County Migrant Education Program (Programa Migrante Region VII). Have you seen the beautiful graduation photos gone viral of recent UC San Diego grad, and Indio High School alumna, Jennifer Rocha? This Desert Sun article shares more about this sociology major's family, and time spent working in the fields alongside her parents. As Jennifer explains it was "More than a high school job, it was her father's way of incentivizing her to pursue a better life." Teaching her to manage her time and prioritize her goals. Congratulations Jennifer Rocha! And to her proud parents whose sacrifice, hard work, and love for family made this accomplishment possible for Jennifer and her siblings, great job Juan and Angelica.

During this National School Counseling Week, more than 400 regional K-12 school counselors met virtually for the Spring School Counselor Leadership Network. RCOE’s College and Career Readiness Unit and @rcecus provided inspiring keynote speakers and valuable breakout session to support our counselors that support our students and families everyday. This final day of #scln2021 they honored 20 of their colleagues named District Counselors of the Year in Riverside County. Here ...are some of their Words of Hope shared during the event. It’s that time of year again RCOE Student Event Season! This Saturday, January 30th, the 2021 Virtual Academic Decathlon competition will begin. Followed by six rounds of Mock Trial beginning on February 3rd with finals at the end of the month. Our Riverside County school districts, charter & private schools will begin the annual Science & Engineering Fair divisional competitions next week, leading to the countywide virtual competition starting on March 2nd, and awards cer...emonies March 15th & 16th. The County’s National History Day competition is up next with students submitting their papers, documentaries, websites, posters, exhibits, and performances towards the end of February, with Judging starting on March 4th and the virtual competition & viewing on March 11th. The final event of the season is Spelling Bee. The virtual competition will be held on March 23rd at 9 a.m. Good luck to all of our student competitors!
