Victims of the North Complex West Zone need an opportunity to have their many questions answered, get the most up-to-date information on the fire, and learn abo...ut what resources are available for their recovery. Tomorrow, September 18th, I will be hosting an Information Session for North Complex West Zone Fire victims. The event will be at 10 AM at the Oroville Municipal Auditorium, located at 1200 Myers Street, Oroville, CA 95965. There will be limited space, and seating will be prioritized for fire victims. September 11, 2020 *** Media Statement *** Butte County Public Health Rescinds Temporary Dine-In Allowance... Effective this evening, 9/11/2020 at 8:00 pm, Butte County Public Health rescinds the temporary allowance for indoor dining at restaurants. After that time, all Butte County restaurants must resume outdoor and take out operations only, in compliance with the State Health Officer order. The temporary allowance was put in place to ensure that evacuees had a safe space to have a meal while the event was unfolding. Butte County officials believe this was the right decision but we are still under the State Health Officer order and must comply again now that the evacuees are able to obtain meals safely. In addition to wanting to respect the State’s orders and prevent the spread of COVID, the county’s Temporary Evacuation Point (TEP) is having meals prepared for evacuees that are still on site. Butte County has consistently supported and complied with State requirements throughout the pandemic. We found it necessary to provide the temporary allowance in response to additional emergencies on top of the COVID pandemic. Butte County wants to express appreciation to the restaurants that took steps to move their operations inside during this temporary allowance. Butte County business owners and residents continue to work together and respond immediately when there is a need due to emergencies. ###
Butte County Health Officer, Dr. Bernstein issued the attached Temporary Indoor Restaurant Operations announcement. The purpose of this temporary emergency measure is to help alleviate the adverse effects of the wildfire-related evacuations and severe outdoor air quality. Particulate matter in the air from wildfire smoke poses respiratory and cardiovascular hazards to residents.
