We checked out the aftermath of the fire. The canyon looks like an alien landscape, but Medicine Rock is untouched. Be prepared for a long process for the land to come back.

Rez Radio 91.3 12.05.2021

Chokla (Gregory Mountain) has survived the fire with just a few spots of pink from the fire retardant. Crews are packing up. We will be going out tomorrow to check the eagle nest and Medicine Rock for any damage, and to assess needs for restoration on the mountain.

Coming up on this week's episode of "Dead Air with Cory Daniels - The Grateful Dead jazz connection in four easy steps: Grateful Dead > Spanish Jam > Miles Davis > Chick Corea - 10p Saturday, right after "Vinyl Resting Place". Dead Air pays tribute to Chick Corea. He's the artist with the most jazz Grammys in the show’s history. The towering jazz pianist worked alongside Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock. An album Corea played on was Black Beauty which was recorded in concert a...t the Fillmore West in San Francisco on April 10, 1970, when Miles Davis performed as the opening act for the Grateful Dead. Miles Davis had a huge impact on the Grateful Dead. We hear Phil Lesh's experience at the Davis Fillmore show. We highlight a certain jam that has a Miles Davis connection. The Spanish Jam. Chick Corea joined the great jam in the sky at age 79 The Set List Born Cross-Eyed > 2:32 Spanish Jam 7:24 1968-02/23 KING'S BEACH BOWL, Lake Tahoe, California Dick's Picks Vol. 22 The Other One > Spanish Jam > Mind Left Body Jam > The Other One 16:41 1974-10/17 WINTERLAND, San Francisco, California The Grateful Dead Movie (Bonus DVD)

Daisy Sunshine's pick of the week. If you grew up in the 70s and 80s you may remember this from a Heinz Ketchup commercial. Before that it was a hit song Carly Simon wrote in 15 minutes while waiting to be picked up for a date by Cat Stevens. The song entered the charts at #61 on this day 49 years ago.

Daisy Sunshine's Pick of the Week. In honor of tonight's time change, it's "Time Has Come Today" from the Chamber's Brothers recorded live at the Fillmore 20th anniversary concert in 1986 with intro by Fillmore impresario Bill Graham and a vintage liquid projection light show.

Daisy Sunshine would usually be thrilled to have an extra hour to party Halloween night. This year, one additional hour is the last thing she (and we) want. But we're getting it anyway. Set your clocks back one hour tonight for the return to standard time.

Peter Green would have had 74 candles on his birthday cake today. Peter was a founding member of Fleetwood Mac, and in the early days, the band was many times r...eferred to as "Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac". He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 for his work with the group, Green's songs such as "Albatross", "Black Magic Woman", "Oh Well" and "Man of the World" have been recorded by artists such as Santana, Aerosmith, Status Quo, The Black Crowes, Midge Ure, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Judas Priest and Gary Moore, who recorded Blues for Greeny, a covers album of Green's compositions. Peter inspired many musicians from different generations. B.B. King has said, "He has the sweetest tone I ever heard; he was the only one who gave me the cold sweats." Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page have both praised his guitar playing. He was ranked 38th in Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". His tone on the Bluesbreakers instrumental "The Supernatural" was rated as one of the 50 greatest of all time by Guitar Player. In June 1996 Green was voted the third-best guitarist of all time in Mojo magazine. We lost Peter on July 25 of this year. He passed away in his sleep. There have been at least two definitive styles of Fleetwood Mac over the years, Peter's and the one defined by LP's like "Rumours". Do you have a preference? Happy Birthday Peter. RIP and thank you for the music.
