Last Tuesday I lost my best friend, mentor, and one of the most consistent things in my life, my dog Jacob aka Mister Mister . As we all know it isn’t easy. There are times out of habit or maybe disbelief that I do things as if he is still here. I still step over his bed on my nightly bathroom trips . In his old age when he heard me coming home, he would lay by the door which I had to start opening slowly bc he lost some hop step in his gitty up. For the last week many time...s I unconsciously still open that same door slowly as if he is still there on the other side. Some habits are hard to break. My dear friend @brandiamaraskyy is writing a book about this very topic, healing after loosing a pet. She lost her beloved dog Simon a few months ago. In her book she is looking to help people who have lost a pet heal through stories, insights, and memories. If you would like to contribute to her wonderful project please send me an email or a DM sharing any words no matter how small it may seem, to help others who are going through their loss. Of course Jacob will have his place . Also, Thank you to all @thedogside family who have shared memories, stories, photos, and lessons learned from Jacob. Many of you spoke about how much you had learned from him and many had never even met him in person. It melted my heart. Truly I am thankful to all of you and appreciate everything. When I am ready I will share Jacob’s whole story as a convicted fugitive on the run from FL. I told very few people, but Jacob was to be euthanized when he was two bc he had bit a crap ton of people in FL including my brother who is the one who is responsible for saving his life. Talk about irony . Jacob is truly a lesson that anything that is learned can be unlearned so don’t give up on your dog or yourself. It can get better. What a week of fun in #escalante #utah with my good friend and amazing photographer @karenhutton. This was our favorite mid day activity while visiting to get out of the 100 degree heat.
