Rancho is NOT a no kill shelter. Dogs like Taboo, that once had a chance to make it out alive, now sit in isolation kennels for weeks on end, until they are deemed "unadoptable" by staff and then killed. Please read her story.

Rancho Cucamonga residents with Pit Bull type dogs and Chihuahua's, here is an opportunity to have your pet spayed/neutered and microchipped for free. There is no date listed on the flyer as to when this offer expires, so please do not delay and take advantage of it ASAP! But DO be aware of the licensing clause listed, because if your pets are not current on the license, the shelter will likely make you license right then and there, and possibly make you pay past years licenses! If this might be an issues, you should contact the shelter ahead of time and ask if they will grant any amnesty for licenses if you have to purchase one at this event. If not, they could stick you with an unaltered license fee at $60 per year, for how many years you have had the dog.

If you want to help an amazing animal organization this holiday season, please consider donating to Angel n Paws. They save so many dogs from the kill shelters in San Bernardino County (all of the shelters in SB are kill shelters, including Rancho). It is rescues like this one that help keep these animals alive and give them a chance at finding their forever home. Donate your money to an organization that you can see good things being done, not just words and fancy PR.

Shenanigans Indeed. The dogs (and cats) at Rancho need someone to speak out for them! What happened to no kill Rancho?

What is cuter than a pibble in pajamas?! Is there a doggie in your life that you need to keep warm and toasty? These pajamas would make a great gift for the holidays. The woman who makes these custom pajamas saved a dog that came from Rancho, and she donates pairs of pajamas to Prairie Pit Bull Rescue, that used to work with the Rancho Animal shelter (until the current director stopped the program and fired the volunteers that got the program started). Remember to adopt, don't shop this holiday season!

Rancho Cucamonga Residents! There is a City Council candidate forum TONIGHT at 7:00 PM at the Senior Center at Central Park on Baseline. This an important election and residents need to be aware of which candidates support getting the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Shelter back on track to No Kill, and demanding accountability and transparency from our City Manager and Shelter Management.

**NEWLY PURCHASED RESCUE RANCH IN DEVORE NEEDS DONATIONS TO GET UP AND RUNNING AND START SAVING LIVES! FUNDS ARE NEEDED FOR BUILDING MATERIALS, REPAIRS, AND KEN...NEL LICENSE, TO PREPARE FOR THE DOGS AND CATS WHO WILL BE STAYING AT THE RANCH UNTIL THEY ARE TRANSFERRED TO THEIR FOREVER HOME, OR AN OUT OF STATE RESCUE.** DONATE: https://www.youcaring.com/getrescueranchupandrunning 501(c)(3) rescue Angels 'n' Paws is seeking donations to develop the newly purchased 3.5 acre rescue ranch in Devore, which will help save THOUSANDS of rescue animals’ lives each year. The kennels/cattery will house dogs and cats temporarily prior to transport to out of state rescues, and also prior to adoption in Southern California. Funds are needed to: - Build the kennels and cattery - Get the caretaker's residence in a liveable state (the caretaker will be working at the ranch in return for their 'keep') - Undertake repairs, for example, to the well which supplies water to the property - Apply for a "conditional use" kennel license The rescue ranch will save many lives from the San Bernardino shelters (San Bernardino City and County shelters) in particular (who have euthanization rates as high as 70%). Dogs such as this 2 year old chihuahua who tragically lost its life at Devore (on the first day of availability) need not die. http://us4.campaign-archive1.com/ Lets get this operation going and save some precious lives!! This is no ordinary kennels! The dogs will be STIMULATED with walks/hikes, play time, training and even swimming in the ‘natural spring’ lake that flows from the mountains!* Initially 15-20 kennels will be available, however the plan is to build 150-200 kennels on the property. There will be a low cost charge for rescue boarding in order to sustain the kennels including food, bills, maintenance etc. Angels ‘n’ Paws Rescue has built relationships with reputable out of state rescues through their transport program which heads northbound up to Oregon, Washington and Canada. These out of state transfers are so successful because the dogs gets adopted far more quickly in the North, where the animals are in lesser supply, and with greater demand, thus enabling far more lives to be saved than would otherwise be the case. Royce Bordes has built a reputation second to none for the standards of her transports, with multiple drivers enabling the dogs to get walked, fed, and cared for along the journey which is made as quick and comfortable as possible for the dogs. The kennels will be heated/cooled, and will include an isolation area for sick dogs (anyone who rescues from So Cal shelters will know that this is much needed!), play and training areas and a meet and greet area. The kennels will be cleaned at least 3 times per day, and the dogs will be fed twice per day. In the words of Royce Bordes, founder of Angels ‘n’ Paws Rescue: Angels ‘n’ Paws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless animals! We are developing property for the use of housing homeless animals for both our rescue partners and animals who come into our rescue, while they await placement. We rescue death row shelter animals, homeless street animals, and owner turn-ins. Each animal is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and micro chipped. We do not believe in euthanasia, unless terminally ill, determined by a vet, and animal is suffering. We provide training for all of our dogs, ranging from "basic training" to behavioral modification, to ensure dogs are successful in their new homes. We provide a healthy and loving environment for all our rescued animals until they find their forever homes (or provide a sanctuary for those who cannot find their forever home, for the rest of their lives.) While they are in our care, they will be busy with volunteers and staff members, doing daily activities such as playing in playgroups, walks/hikes, one-on-one play, swimming*, etcall in a camp-like setting. Your donation is tax deductible; receipts can be provided upon request. We invite you to take a look around the ranch, please contact [email protected]. Also please contact us if you are willing to volunteer your time (either for the installation, or on an ongoing basis). IF YOU TOO BELIEVE THAT NOT ONLY DO THE HOMELESS ANIMALS OF SO CAL DESERVE LIFE, AND THE UTMOST CARE, BUT ALSO STIMULATION AND HAPPINESS, PLEASE DONATE TODAY AND MAKE A LASTING DIFFERENCE. A NEW WAY TO DONATE - BUY AN ENGRAVED BRICK TO COMMEMORATE YOUR DONATION TO THE RESCUE RANCH http://www.formstack.com/forms/?1736364-UdIoEPSeIV *Subject to the lake being deemed safe by divers. Dogs currently swim in the lake without any problems.

From SwayLove: This Thursday the Jurupa Valley City Council will be having their 1st reading to push MSN-BSL onto Pit Bulls. The disingenuous pound manager Robert Miller from Riverside County is likely most responsible for this crap continuing to spread around the area. We need help opposing these measures. If you live in the area then please consider going. Writing into the Council in opposition also helps. http://www.jurupavalley.org/citycouncil.php

This rescue does amazing work, especially with abandoned pit bulls. If you can purchase a brick, you are literally helping to build a better future for the animals.

If you are a Rancho Cucamonga resident, who is concerned about the RC Animal Shelter, and the waste of taxpayer money, please attend this important town hall discussion. It is imperative that the elected officials of the city see how their constituents want better for the animals. Thank you. The event will be held on Thursday, May 15th at 7:00 PM at the Goldy Lewis Community Center 11200 Baseline Road, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91701.

From SwayLove: On 3/25 the Lake Elsinore City Council will be voting on a plan to enact BSL, targeting dogs that they deem to be Pit Bulls with a sterilization ordinance. This is mostly being pushed by Councilman Brian Tisdale and will be the 2nd reading and vote. On 3/11 the ordinance passed its 1st reading by a vote of 4-1. If it passes again it will become law. http://blessthebullys.wordpress.com//lake-elsinore-ca-to-/... To contact and oppose this legislation... Mayor Natasha Johnson: [email protected] Mayor Pro Tem Steve Manos: [email protected] Councilman Daryl Hickman: [email protected] Councilman Robert Magee: [email protected] Councilman Brian Tisdale: [email protected] In other words this is a mandatory spay and neuter law that is "breed-specific" to any dog deemed to be a Pit Bull, all other types of dogs aren't targeted for the legislation. This is how municipalities get around the state law, as this move is nothing more than an attempt at a "ban" for their area. California clearly states that you can't get away with banning breeds or types of dogs, so this is the 2nd best thing for them to take up. Keep in mind that this law was created while implying (and oftentimes stating) that Pit Bulls are "dangerous" and that they "pose a risk to public safety." While we all promote responsible pet ownership and the sterilizing of our pets, you should absolutely oppose this move. Not to mention that breed-specific mandatory spay/neuter and BSL in general has been proven not to work, wastes money, creates higher shelter impounds, deals with no societal issues, and deals with no owner- or behavior-related issues of the person that is ultimately responsible for the dog (which is the real problem anywhere).
