High-power individuals are more likely to blame others if they perform poorly. They are also more likely to punish them. Recent #RadyResearch from Yidan Yin (Ph.D. '21) and Associate Professor Pamela K. Smith:
Recent #RadyResearch published in PLOS revealed republicans became more vaccine hesitant during the pandemic. "What we think is going on is that different perceptions of threat from COVID-19 may be driving these differences in vaccine hesitancy and those perceptions of threat may in turn be driven from different sources of news," Ariel Fridman, a PhD candidate at Rady told NBC 7 San Diego news. #RadyCares Update: Last month, the Rady community came together during UC San Diego's Day of Caring to support Speech & Debate. The generosity from so many alumni and friends inspired our anonymous donor to match all gifts for this team, for a grand total of $12,430! The funds raised make it possible for the Speech & Debate team to pursue its dream of representing UC San Diego in tournaments across the country. Thank you to everyone who made such an important impact! https://blog.rady.ucsd.edu//uc-san-diego-speech-and-debat/

Do you remember the old days of sampling freebies at your local grocery store? There are a few reasons we were drawn to samples in the first place, according to Professor Uri Gneezy:
"My greatest pleasure is to see a fantastic person who is really valuable reach even higher heights, even if this means that they will eventually leave to progress in their careers. If you are focused on improving others around you, then you will always get their best when they work with you." - Dean Lisa Ordóñez We are honored to have spent the past year under Dean Ordóñez's leadership! In a recent interview with GlobalMindED Conference, she speaks about her upbringing as a double first generation graduate, battling impostor syndrome early in her career, and why being a good leader means being a good listener: https://conta.cc/34PMCYp
