Pyramid Lake Recreation Area and Campground 08.11.2020

Bass fishing for Largemouth and Smallmouth have been great over the past week on various baits depending on conditions and time of day but most bites have been on soft plastic baits being worked through the grass along the shorelines and coves. Senkos, Flukes, and Roboworms have been doing the trick for rental boaters and still some top water action during the early morning hours for both Bass and Stripers. No reports of boils but people have been getting bit down deeper on s...teeper walls and rocky points for Stripers throughout the day. Lugworms have been catching a few stripers along the channel by the entrance booth and off the end of the rip rap in front of the bait shop in the morning as well. Catfish are still biting rather consistently off the Island and down deep throughout coves on Sardines and Chicken Liver. Striper boils are still being spotted throughout the day all around the lake, best times being first thing in the morning and the last couple hours in the canal up front have been most productive. Other anglers have been trolling around the lake using umbrella rigs, heavy kastmasters, and leadheads to come across stripers during the heat of the day. Spooning down deep has also been a great method to catch stripers throughout the day. Bass have been biting along the grasslines... of the lake on various soft plastic baits like senkos, flukes, and roboworms and top water baits during the first couple hours of the day. Fishing down deep off steeper walls and drop offs using jigs have also been working well when the bite is tough. Catfish have also been biting very consistent in the coves around the lake on anchovies, sardines and mackerel. Current Hours are from 6:30-7:00 Rentals Ends at 3:00 and are due back by 5:00 Last launch for private watercrafts is 4pm and are due off by 6pm. Striper boils have been seen in the first few hours of the mornings throughout the lake and some in the afternoon throughout the marina. Top water baits, jerkbaits, and flukes have been productive baits in the boils otherwise anglers have had the best luck either trolling around the lake or dropping down some bait during the heat of the day to fish deeper for the stripers. Catfish have also been consistently biting on various baits such as nightcrawlers, sardines, anchovies a...nd chicken liver down deep in the coves around the lake. Largemouth and Smallmouth bass have also been biting well along the shorelines of the lake either on flukes, senkos or top water baits in the morning hours. Weedless setups for the flukes and senkos have been the best way to fish the grassline to come across the bass throughout the day or nightcrawlers dropshot style down deep. ***Currently open at 6:30am and Close at 7:00pm**** Boat Rentals go until 3:00 and are due back no later than 5pm. Stripers have been starting to boil throughout the marina and around the island the first few hours of the mornings. Plenty of trout are still being caught around the lake off various baits such as rooster tails, nightcrawlers, and powerbaits. Coves have been the best areas to come across trout, catfish and bass throughout the day. Most anglers have been catching most of their trout and stripers anywhere up to 40 feet deep, using longer leaders to help manage with the grass. ...Trolling the lake has been effective for catching stripers, umbrella rigs, deep diving jerk baits and heavy kastmasters work well to cover water and search for the stripers. Bass have also been biting well along the shorelines throughout the grass on flukes, senkos, spinner baits and top water baits early morning. Nightcrawlers have also been working well during the heat of the day. Current Hours are from 6am - 8pm Boat Rentals start at opening and end by 4pm, due back by 6pm. The trout bite has slowed down a bit but anglers are still coming across them every once in a while on nightcrawlers or micetails.
