During yesterday's Governing Board meeting, Porterville High School Principal Jose Valdez recognized nurses Brenda Crowell and Sylvia Leal, as well as the entire PHS Counseling team for their contributions to the school.

During yesterday's Governing Board meeting, Citrus High School Principal Apolinar Marroquin recognized Merida Cortez, Mirella Colunga and Selene Sanchez for their contributions to the school.

During yesterday's Governing Board meeting, Granite Hills High students Sofia Biagio, Daniel Gomez, and Christopher Andersen were recognized for winning their individual divisions in the 2022 Tulare County Academic Decathlon.

During yesterday's Governing Board meeting, Monache High teacher Emily Drum was honored for receiving two awards: California Council for Social Studies Economics Teacher of the Year and California Council on Economics Education Economics Teacher of the Year.

During yesterday's Governing Board meeting, Porterville Military Academy cadet Brady Unruh was honored for being selected to the Air Force JROTC Flight Academy, Chief of Staff Private Pilot Scholarship program. Unruh is one of 60 Cadets selected from a national group of applicants to earn a spot in the 8-week summer aviation training program conducted at partnering universities. Upon successful completion of the program, Unruh will be awarded his FAA Private Pilot’s Certification.

The Academy of Health Science is sponsoring a Blood Drive on February 5 from 1pm to 5pm in the PHS Science Parking Lot. *All COVID health & safety protocols wi...ll be enforced. *The Central California Blood Center is adhering to all U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) measures to ensure the safety and adequacy of our Valley’s blood. We will continue to follow the latest CDC precautions, while monitoring CDC and Fresno County Department of Public Health reports daily. Our donor centers will continue to operate safely, with the health of our donors as a top priority. People can continue to donate blood, platelets, and plasma as long as: They are well and healthy. Have not traveled to Asia or Europe in the last 28 days. We are working closely with the local public health department (FCDPH) for updates and will continue to provide Central Valley residents with timely updates surrounding this topic. Additionally, we have taken extra precautions such as adding to our regular cleaning schedule, increasing sanitation of all surfaces, providing masks for donors and staff as well as measuring donor and staff temperatures before anyone enters any of our buildings. Blood centers follow appropriate infection control standards of donor rooms and mobile buses, which include sanitation of donor waiting rooms and donation chairs.
