We are honored to receive the #outstandingserviceaward from our partners at the American Red Cross! Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Red Cross has experienced a number of severe blood shortages due to blood drive cancellations. As one of the few facilities in the region that has the necessary safety precautions in place to protect the health of our donors, we recognized the urgency for our hospital to step up and fill the need. And so, thanks to the efforts of our blood drive team and YOU, our donors, we were able to host 14 blood drives (instead of the usual 6) and collect 885 units of lifesaving blood in 2020. In efforts to prevent a "twindemic" from the convergence of flu season and the COVID-19 pandemic, we hosted a free drive-thru flu shot clinic on Saturday, October 17, at Fairplex. ABC7 joined us as we provided more than 500 free flu shots to community members ages 9 and older. Thanks to all of the recipients who came out - welcome to our team of Flu Fighters!

Today we received a wonderful surprise from Margit Holakoui Florist in Arcadia and Flores Deos Co. from the Los Angeles Flower Market! The two florists arranged hundreds of blooming bouquets to launch a Petal-It-Forward event at our hospital. #PetalItForward is a national movement to bring positive energy and joy to others through gifts of flowers. Our Associates, patients and visitors who received these colorful bouquets were encouraged to keep one and give the other away to an unsuspecting stranger, family or friend. What a beautiful way to illustrate the power of kindness and to share the stress-reducing and mood-boosting benefits of giving and receiving flowers

As we celebrate #InfectionPreventionWeek, we recognize the tireless work of our infection preventionists, who have been challenged this year more than ever in battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
