With everything being a little off kilter these days, we are feelin’ the architecture of these @tortugaliving planters. Unlike what we witnessed on September 29th, between the hours of 6-8pm PT, these planters are sturdy, grounded and have a solid base of support. The platform vessels are available in two sizes, perfect for your 4 and 6 plants and in 3 colors... White, Graphite and Coral!

We are back open for in store shopping! After opening a new shop in October, closing down in March, opening an online shop in April. We are back in September for jn store shopping! We couldn’t of done it without your online orders, door way drop offs, masked pick ups, and all of the unusual things we’ve all had to endure these past 6 months. ... For safety purposes for all, in store shopping is limited to a group of 2 people, or two individuals at one time at our Pac heights location... and one at a time shopping at our Hayes valley location. These artist-designed and sustainably manufactured pot...s are too cool to keep secret. We are also restocked with handcrafted planters by @convivialproduction , @oyoylivingdesign and @amyhamleyceramics , with more fresh ‘n’ fun stuff coming soon in the mail. Know an artist whose pottery you would like to see featured? Give ‘em a shout in the comments and we’ll see what we can do... @ San Francisco, California

Monstera Madness has come to Plants and Friends, and we’re finally ready to share this very exciting find with the world. It’s no secret that Variegated Monsteras are on every plant lover’s wish list. This unicorn-to-end all-unicorns of the plant world is one of our most highly requested plants, and we have been working tirelessly to add them into stock. Due to the complicated and very SLOW process of propagating and growing Variegated Monstera, coupled with increasing deman...d, it’s lucky if we can get one in California. This stunner measures 1.5 ft tall in height at its tallest point and sports an impressive wing-span of 2 feet wide. It is fully rooted in a six inch nursery pot. The plant comes with the hefty price tag of $800, which we know won’t be too surprising to serious collectors. Though similarly-sized plants currently sell for over $1000 on ebay and etsy, our goal is not to gain an exorbitant profit, but to make this plant available to a lucky customer. Our slashed markup reflects that intent. Please feel free to send any questions you may have about the plant to [email protected]. Please do not contact us by phone or instagram message. You can also take a peek at the plant through the Pac Heights shop window. We will release this Variegated beaut for sale at noon on Friday, August 21st and we wish one of our customers the luck of claiming it for their own! So set your timers, friends! @ San Francisco Bay Area

Mondays are a day for relaxing and reflection here at Plants and Friends, and this sensor-composed modular soundscape engineered by @xavier_gazon is just what we needed to recharge our creativity. This vid is a reminder for us to take time to slow down and remember just why we do this: the love of nature, connection and how plant life can manifest itself into art. We’ll see you all on Wednesday! Until then, we suggest heading on over to Gazon’s profile to watch the full vid. Play with plants and listen to what they have to say

The Plants and Friends femmes have returned! Today marks an exciting day for us in the shop. Because of your continued support, we were finally able to hire back our last two furloughed employees this week after four months apart! We’re all feeling a range of emotions as we set back into work together. All of our roles have adapted to the times, so we’re thankful to our staff in being willing to adjust to taking on new responsibilities. ... We are so appreciative for the resiliency and grace of these women who make up 2/3 of our staff at Plants and Friends. Our main priority is to keep each other, our friends, neighbors and community safe as we adapt and advance to bring you all the leafy joy! Thank you all for helping make that happen!

Pssst! Secrets out:Hoyas are the freshest face at the plant party! Hoya Boyas, as @deemakes likes to call ‘em, have become an instant fav among all us plant lovers for being extra easy going and quick to trail and vine. You can let em hang loose or train em up like a topiary for some rare flair. Keep these buddies in bright, filtered sun and water when the soil is dry at least halfway down in the pot. Most varieties don’t require a lot of humidity, making them ideal for... new plant owners and seasoned aficionados, alike. Extra bonus: most Hoyas flower in Spring and Summer for you to sniff a sweet whiff from the comfort of your shelter in place. Googly eyes optional but highly encouraged. @ San Francisco, California

Starting this week, our Hayes Valley shop will be open for window shopping and pick-up Thursday-Sunday from 12pm-5pm. Place your order ahead of time, or stop on by to pick your plants in person. These hours will be expanded as we bring our last two furloughed employees back to work next week. Resetting the sales shelves this week has given us an odd sense of calm amid the chaos of the past few months. It feels like a lifetime (and business model) ago when we emptied out our... little flagship of all its merchandise and bunkered down as a delivery-only operation. Finally splitting our inventory back up between the two shops and opening for pickup has lent us some much-needed breathing room to reflect on the ways we and the world have grown and changed since the shutdown. We have gone full turn from big survival mode to a completely new way of operating in just three months, and as we resurface we're a bit overwhelmed with gratitude for how our community has shown up for us and for EACH OTHER. Thank you to all of you who have cheered us on and kept us going! And to all of you who have contributed to our fundraising efforts for Black lives and systemic change by assisting us in raising over $3500 for the @aclu_nationwide , @actblueorg Social Justice Megafund and @blklivesmatter . You all made this happen and motivate us to keep the fundraising efforts going. This is a long fight - we’re glad you’re here for it. We'll be closed tomorrow (Satuday, July 4th) to give our staff a well-need DAY OFF and to reflect on our country's history (and future). Stay tuned for more to come!

Welcome STUMP WARES to the Plants and Friends and Plants and Friends To Go catalogue! We are excited to announce that this week we're making a pretty huge transition for our business: we have fully transitioned from our former large planters with drainage to STUMP WARES. STUMP pots are formed from real Ohio clay and hand-thrown in Roseville, Ohio. The difference in these pots is remarkable: they are sturdy, elegant and timeless. And on top of this, they don't come with th...e same giant environmental footprint that accompanies a lot of pottery on the market. At the beginning of this year we sat down to set our intentions for the year forward and there was one thing we agreed on, unanimously: it's time to cut ties with our reliance on mass-produced pottery. Here's the hard truth: while the plant shop community is largely comprised of earth-conscious individuals, the plant INDUSTRY has a lot of work to do in this regard. Whether we're referring to the wasteful use of plastic nursery pots and trays that can't be recycled, greenhouse mass-production for big box stores that results in high numbers of resource and product loss, or the tendency for most shops (including ours) to carry mostly foreign, factory-made ceramics, one thing is clear: if we don't stand up to these things then we are perpetuating the problem. This has also steadily been on our mind as we look deeper into our supply chains to learn how to curate a more diverse collection. Our industry should not exist at the expense of marginalized communities, and while we don't have all the answers of how to make this happen right away, we're taking this one step at a time. @ Plants and Friends

psssst... Harmony here sneaking on to wish this amazing FATHER TO BE @4land a happy early Dad’s Day from the @plantsandfriends staff! (Pictured here in an oldie but goodie with future mom @moore_madeline .) You’re gonna make a great pops and we all feel so lucky to have you as a boss. We can’t wait to meet the newest member of the Plants and Friends family. You will all likely be seeing a little more of me in the coming months, and a lot less of Nick after his baby is (ho...pefully) born this week. I’ll try to bring that same humor and wit to our feed, but it’s definitely not going to be the same without this goofball around. We send our love, collectively, to all you fathers out there, all the fathers to be, father-figures and all those who have lost their dads. We also remember and honor all the fathers and would-be fathers that were taken from this world early due to racism and police violence. ... AND a very happy Summer Soldticd and season of growth to all else! Love, Harmony (Chief) and the Plants and Friends Staff
