Our Club's Christmas, Toy Drive, Steal a Gift Game, Dinner and Ugly Sweater Party!
We have been a little quiet over here on Instagram, but we have to share this #futurerotarian proudly showing off one of our benches #inpinole!
Rota-Santas delivered a load of gifts to Captain Mike Crooks, Firefighter Paramedic Dale Blume & Firefighter Paramedic Daniel Houts. Thank you Pinole Professional Firefighters & Pinole Police Department for your help bringing happiness to children during the holidays!
We were honored to have our District Governor Cathy Suvia, Her Husband Bill and our Assistant District Governor Beth Roessner join us at The Pear Street Bistro for lunch. District Governor Cathy spoke on Polio and also how to help girls in poor countries. Her eyes twinkle when she is sharing about making a difference locally and around the world! She also awarded Jamie Cepernich with the "Back to The Future" award. This Award is presented to the member who honors the past while bringing their Club into the future. The award was well deserved.
Our District Governor, Kathy Suvia & her Husband were visiting, as well as Beth Roessner, our Assistant District Governor from the Berkeley Club. District Governor Kathy awarded Jamie with the "Back to the Future" award as someone who honors the past while bringing our Club into the future! Well deserved! We learned more about polio and the success with eradicating this terrible disease from the world. We also learned how to help girls in poor countries. We had a lovely time and will continue to make a difference locally and around the world. A big thank you to District Governor Kathy!

When we say we’re picking up trash on Halloween in costume we mean it. Don The Dude Patterson was no less effective in his spiffy getup, though. Plus a sighting of one of our community projects!! #halloween #rotariansatwork #rotariansincostume

Member Spotlight! Judy Cates has been a Pinole resident for 52 years and a Pinole Rotarian for 34 of them. A retired travel agent and agency owner, Judy believes in the larger mission statement of Rotary International and how that trickles down to the work Rotarians do in their own communities. Anyone who has spent anytime with Judy knows that she deeply believes in the Rotary mottos of service above self and the Four Way Test: Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned...? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? Judy adds: When women were allowed to join Pinole Rotary Club, I was honored to be one of 4 women asked to join Pinole Rotary Club. Realizing what a wonderful organization Rotary International was back in 1987 and I am honored to be A member of Pinole Rotary Club still today. One of our hardest working and most loyal members you are almost guaranteed to see Judy at our trash pickups and public events. Want to know more about Judy? Consider becoming a Friend of Rotary or better yet; a Pinole Rotarian! Email [email protected] and we will add you to our mailing list!!

Donate to eradicate Polio
#WorldPolioDay is 24 October! Donations to #endpolio help @Rotary and its partners reach every child with the polio vaccine to protect them from the paralyzing disease. Donate through our club on Venmo @pinole-rotary!
Poliomyelitis, or polio, is a paralyzing and potentially fatal disease that still threatens children in some parts of the world. Poliovirus invades the nervous system and can cause total paralysis in hours. It can strike people of any age but mainly affects children under five. Polio can be prevented by vaccines, but it is not curable. Unlike most diseases, polio can be eradicated. For more than 30 years, Rotary and our partners have driven the effort to eradicate polio worldwide. Our PolioPlus program was the first initiative to tackle global polio eradication by vaccinating children on a massive scale. As a core partner in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, Rotary focuses on advocacy, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, and awareness-building. We can #endpolio globally! Join with @Rotary on #WorldPolioDay on 24 October!
Welcome to our newest Pinole Rotarian, Richie Fernandez! This is what initiation looks like in the time of corona. We are glad we got to welcome Richie - even during a pandemic!
Member Spotlight! Dr William Candelario, as we fondly call Dr Bill, has been a Pinole Rotarian since May of 1971. He is our club’s remaining Charter Member. In the 49 years Dr Bill has been a Pinole Rotarian he has seen many changes and new faces but what hasn’t changed is his commitment to making a difference in our community.... As a retired surgeon, Dr Bill helped shape how health care was provided to the Pinole community and is a founding member of the Philippine Medical Mission. It’s save to say, thousands of people live healthier lives because of Dr Bill. Dr Bill and his wife Reynalda can always be counting on to support every Pinole Rotary fundraiser and club activity. Our club is proud to continue the Dr Bill Writing and Speech Contest. The contest encourages Pinole Valley High School Interact students to write and present their interpretations of the Rotary 4-Way Test. Dr Bill is a proud husband, father and grandfather and we are honored to call him our friend!
Who wouldn’t want to enjoy a delicious dinner that you don’t have to cook that also benefits our local children? Deadline to order is September 25th! Link in bio.
