Congratulations Mrs. Heinrich on this new adventure you are about to embark!! You will be missed. If you would like to share a special memory, story or let her ...know how much she has meant to you, please email your note to [email protected] or mail it to Mesa Grande Academy (975 Fremont Street, Calimesa, CA 92320). We will forward everything to Mrs. Boyko. Video tributes may also be made at https://www.tribute.co/roxy-heinrich/ . From Mrs. Heinrich: "I started teaching in 1980 at Enterprise Academy in Kansas. I taught band, accompanied for choirs, and also taught many flute and piano lessons. I hope to be making baby quilts, babysitting for said babies, making new window coverings for our house, and just generally loving life."

I taught a choir of 102 members, a chamber choir of 16, and many piano and voice lessons. I plan to spend retirement time reading, gardening, substitute teaching, volunteering in education, and traveling. We have our first trip planned to Southwest Colorado in the fall when we are missing being in the classroom."

"And yes, my heart is torn as I think about leaving my second home. MGA has been a HUGE part of my life for 32 years. Over the past 22 years, while teaching at MGA, I’ve taught 461 third graders. Each one of them I have prayed for individually, and each one will always have a special place in my heart. Even though my prayers will continue for MGA, it’s going to be so different not to be involved in the same way as I have been all these years. I will miss teaching and interacting with the students and parents (my extended family), and the friendships I have made through the years. What a blessing to be able to work beside, and with, the most amazing teachers and staff! I always was so excited each year when it was time to go back to school and I could be with my friends full time again. It’s not only students that look forward to a new year!! And yes, I will even miss all of the hours I’d put into planning for my classes. I’ve always enjoyed looking for new ideas, and many nights I’d wake up in the middle of the night and I’d look on my teacher sites to see if there were some new ideas I could implement in my classroom. Summers were usually spent either taking additional classes or working on curriculum. There honestly is so much I’m going to miss. So what are my plans for retirement? I’m looking forward to more time with my family and grandchildren!!! The time spent won’t be interrupted with thoughts of grading papers or getting other things ready for school. There are several projects I’ve "put on hold" as school consumed so much of my time. I’m looking forward to attacking some of them. There are also some bucket list vacations I’d like to do. First on the list is to travel out East and see the fall colors. I know I won’t have to worry about how to fill up my days. I’ve always had so much that I want to accomplish that I’m never bored. It will just be different!! And I’m in for the ride to see the surprises and journey God has planned for me."
