Interagency fire suppression training is still important during the pandemic. As this experience has drawn longer, crews have created scenarios that are both real world and socially distanced. Great day of training for #pennvalleyfire and #roughandreadyfire. #pennvalley #roughandready #medicengine43 #mutualaid

Red Flag Warning goes into effect at 9 pm PDT this evening. A combination of dry northerly to easterly winds, low relative humidity values, and dry fuels will lead to these critical fire weather conditions. You have probably noticed an increase in smoke in the area this morning, this is just drift smoke from the fires to our north. There are no new fires in the area at the moment. #redflag #readynevadacounty #pennvalleyfire #fireseason2020

Since September 5th Brush 44 as part of Strike Team XNE 4105C has been working hard on the Creek Fire near Shaver Lake. The Brush staffed with 3 personnel have diligently worked on Structure Defense, Firing Operations, hand line construction and miles of hose lays. The crew is doing well and we look forward to their return sometime next week. Penn Valley Fire has remained fully staffed the entire time providing the day to day operations for our District. #mutualaid #fireseason2020 #creekfire #pennvalleyfire #brush44 #striketeam

Penn Valley firefighters have been busy assisting with wildfires throughout the state. Today, three members returned from a two week assignment at the Dolan Fire on the Los Padres National Forest. They were caring for firefighters on the line with their advanced medical skills and organizing the overall medical care for the entire incident. One fire captain is assigned to the North Complex on the Plumas National Forest as a strike team leader trainee and, tonight, Brush 44 re...sponded as part of Nevada County strike team 4105C to the Creek Fire near Shaver Lake on the Sierra National Forest with three personnel. This fire has grown to 36,000 acres in one day and is causing injuries and evacuations in that area. Just as firefighters from throughout the state came to help our community during the recent Jones Fire, we must help those who need our assistance now. The California mutual aid system is the best in the world and we are proud to be a part of it. All stations in our District remain fully staffed with firefighter/paramedics to ensure that our residents continue to receive the service they depend on. All backfill is fully funded by California or the federal government and not through any local funds. #wildfire #mutualaid #sierranf #PlumasNF #NorthComplex #CreekFire #dolanfire2020 #pennvallley #nevadacounty

While our local Jones Fire is well controlled, Penn Valley firefighters continue assisting our fellow Californians in the wildfire fight. FF/EMT Solario and FF/P Clement are currently assigned to the 21,000 acre Dolan Fire south of Big Sur. They are providing fireline medical care to the staff on the incident. This sometimes includes utilizing technical rope systems to access the patient due to the extremely rugged terrain found along the central coast. Here, they train with other rescue personnel from Kern County Fire Dept. assigned to the incident on techniques they will use, should it be necessary, to rescue a patient. #dolanfire2020 #pennvalleyfire #kerncountyfire #LosPadres #lospadresnationalforest #rescue

This video from Marin County shows just how dangerous wildfire is for firefighters. Two of your firefighters are battling the Dolan Fire in Big Sur right now. They are safe and working hard. While we always hope to remain safe, it’s good knowing that first responders have other first responders when they need them. Happy to see these Marin County firefighters are safe as well. #teamwork #oneteamonefight #marincounty #sonomasheriff
