Peninsula students had the opportunity to re-imagine a school tradition this year! Teachers Jeff and Damien offered Upper Schoolers the chance to engineer ago-kart(or two) per class. Students built them from the ground up using existing go-kart materials and added their personal touches. Weraced them in a Covid-friendly way this week! Thanks to all who participated and cheered. #peninsulaschool#choice#reimaginingtradition #gokarts #stem #diy

These 5th-graders are practicing mathematical thinking a little differently! Jesse and Aran's math students drew their own which one doesn’t belong (WODB) problem on the driveway for their classmates to solve. The WODB is a math routine used as a way to warm up student thinking. Jesse shares, We use these routines because they offer many entry points for students to gain confidence in presenting mathematical reasoning and engaging in discourse as a group -- there are no wrong answers as long as the reasoning is true. #Peninsulaschool #meaningfulacademics #handsonlearning #mathed

All kinds of scientific inquiries are occurring on campus this week! Nursery Blue watched the metamorphosis of caterpillars into butterflies. Toni’s class dissected hearts with Lower School Science Specialist Aaron. At the heart of any great science program, teachers cultivate a sense of wonder about the world. They also model how to think and approach questions like a scientist. Toni’s class of 9- and 10-year-olds serves as an excellent example of early scientific thinking.... Students are learning how questions become hypotheses and the importance of following procedures. From this foundation, they are experimenting and analyzing results. What do you think makes a good science program? Do you remember your first science lab? #peninsulaschool #meaningfulacademics #handsonlearning #thinklikeascientist #scientificmethod #inquirybasedlearning

Sharing some student artwork from campus this week including 8th-grade masks and block prints. These projects signal that June is near as students use these handmade prints for graduation invitations. Well done 8th graders. We hope you can soak up these last few weeks together on campus. We are cherishing our remaining time with you! (And don’t forget to order your yearbook!)... #peninsulaschool #handmade #8thgrade #graduation

Dino in camo. During transition week, Science Aaron demonstrated how animals and insects use camouflage. For some reason he didn't include our very own dinosaur.
