Happy National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day! Sounds like a great excuse to combine science with fun family time. You can discover the melting point of cheese with your kids, and share your favorite family recipes and techniques. *Spoiler alert: soft cheeses typically melt around 130-150 degrees Fahrenheit. Twice every year, there is a time when the tilt of the Earth’s axis and Earth’s orbit combine so that the sun is directly over the equator. Today just happens to be one of those days, marking the first day of astronomical Spring! Happy Spring Equinox, everybody! Fun Fact! Did you know that the word 'equinox' comes from the Latin 'aequus' (equal) and 'nox' (night)? That means, in theory, we have exactly 12 hours each of 'day' and 'night' today!
