Your @santarosafirefighters cut ventilation holes in the roof of almost every structure fire they go to. It’s beneficial to tapped victims, firefighters, the building itself and property inside. Watch as Truck 2 cuts a hole on top of a two story home. A loud, steep and low visibility environment is typical with this operation day or night. The metal roof seen here turned out to be a complete second standalone roof on top of the original roof and required additional cutting.

Check out the front driver’s perspective from a @santarosafirefighters ladder truck. The two drivers communicate through a headset. This ladder truck was responding as mutual aid to a two alarm fire in the city of Rohnert Park.

Here are some of the calls your @santarosafirefighters ran yesterday. In the morning Engine 6 responded to a medical aid for someone who fell approximately 50’ from a tree. The patient was flown by helicopter to the hospital. That night Truck 2 and Engine 8 rescued a subject trapped in a clothing donation bin. Holmatro extrication tools were needed to force the door open.

Hose Company No. 2 in the 2019 Luther Burbank Rose Parade. Purchased new by the SRFD in 1904 it was the second steamer of its type in Santa Rosa. Two years later your @santarosafirefighters had to dig this steamer, along with the rest of the fleet and horses out of the partially collapsed fire station during the 1906 earthquake. The station burned to the ground as crews were battling a fire encompassing a majority of downtown Santa Rosa.

This morning, Captain Giulie Miller retired from the Santa Rosa Fire Department. Giulie joined @santarosafirefighters on March 1st, 1993. She promoted to Engineer in 2001 and then in 2006 she made history by becoming the first female to promote to Captain within the Santa Rosa Fire Dept. Back to back cardiac arrest saves, multi-alarm structure fires or major extrications, Captain Miller’s hard work always lead to positive impacts on Santa Rosa’s residents. Her upbeat attitude and position as a peer support member meant it was always fun to work with her or she could help you out after a bad call/series of bad calls. Giulie will spend her retirement with her family, baking, painting and bee keeping. You will be missed Captain Miller. We hope you enjoy a long and healthy retirement. Congratulations!! Godspeed.

Ride along with one of your @santarosafirefighters ladder trucks as it returns from a call. Can you guess what street they are returning from?

Your @santarosafirefighters Engine 3, Engine 11, Truck 1 along with Battalion 1 responded to a vehicle accident last night requiring significant extrication. A four-door pickup truck with two occupants collided with a tree on Fountaingrove Parkway trapping the passenger. After chainsaws were used to clear away tree branches, Holmatrol extrication tools were used to cut away portions of the truck and bend others. Extrication time was less than 30 mins.

Here’s a pic of your @santarosafirefighters getting Truck 2 ready for the @lutherburbankroseparade. Truck 2 was built by the American LaFrance company in 1928 and was in service for 36 years- its last call was the #hanlyfire. In the background is Truck 1, a Pierce built in 2016. Both rigs feature a 15 liter, 6 cylinder engine. . . #santarosafirefighters #srfd #santarosa #sonomacounty #sonomacountystrong #bayarea #family #iaff #iaff1401 #707 #cali #california #familia #fitness #f4f #gopro #motivation #fireman #firefighter #fight #gym #fit #downtown #historic #americanlafrance

Brothers Patrick Tognozzi from @sanjosefirefighters (left) and Matt Tognozzi from @santarosafirefighters (right) spent many days working side by side in Santa Rosa during the #glassfire. When thousands of firefighters descend into Santa Rosa these types of connections are bound to happen!

Ride along with your @santarosafirefighters Engine 5 A-Shift the night the #glassfire entered #sonomacounty. They had 500 gallons of water to protect this home from a burning warehouse on one side and burning vegetation on the other. Judicial water use and frequent checks of the attic resulted in the home surviving. The unusual sound is a large propane tank venting. These were the firefighting conditions facing every @santarosafirefighters as all off duty members were recall...ed back to work that night. . . #santarosafighters #santarosafire #srfd #wildfire #fireseason #2020 #707 #LA #lightning #gym #gymselfie #motivation #fitness #f4follow #f4f #water #firefighters #fireservice #l1401 #iaff #weather #family #covid19 #sonomastrong #sleep #brothers #california #mutualaid #glassfire

Last week, Engineer Brian White retired from the Santa Rosa Fire Department. Brian joined the @santarosafirefighters on December 11th, 2006 and was promoted to Engineer in 2010. Engineer White drove our ladder trucks, was a member of the hazmat team and could fill in as an acting captain. Brian lives an adventurous outdoor life and his stories will be missed around the fire house. We are confident that his adventure van will allow him to continue exploring new areas. You’ll be missed. Good luck on the next chapter brother. Godspeed!

Your @santarosafirefighters have seven extra members staffing two additional engines today and tomorrow due to the weather. Shown is Engine 2 back in 2015 fighting a small fire on the top of a five story wooden cooling tower during the Valley Fire.

Rachelle Brooke joined the @santarosafirefighters on March 1st, 1993 and promoted to driver in 2001. She retired on September 5, 2020 after spending the last decade driving Engine 6 in east Santa Rosa. Early on the morning of September 28th she was preparing to evacuate her house on Saint Helena road after receiving an evacuation warning from the #glassfire. An ember landed downhill of her house and set the surrounding vegetation on fire forcing Rachelle and her husband to re...treat to an open field. The ensuing fire burned her house down and hospitalized both Rachelle and her husband with injuries. Her husband was released from the hospital after a few days and Rachelle was released from a burn center this morning. Rachelle’s Venmo is Rachelle-Brooke-1 and a link can be found in the final pic for those wishing to help Rachelle through these hard times. See more
