Teachers were unsurprised that COVID worsened existing inequalities in education. Prop J helps provide resources to bridge the digital divide and level the playing field so all of students have the tech and resources they need to continue learning remotely. Please join us in voting Yes on J next week! #YesOnJ #SupportSFTeachers

This year has been a constant reminder about why we do this work and our dedication to families in San Francisco public schools. During a time of distance learning and other increased hardships due to COVID-19, PPS-SF has sprung into action to support families across San Francisco, including a four-part series of workshops about learning from home. At this time we are announcing the departure of our Executive Director, Teresa Arriaga. Under Teresa’s leadership, PPS-SF has he...lped thousands of parents and caregivers connect more deeply with their schools, navigate SFUSD, build leadership skills to advocate for their schools and children, understand the enrollment process, and amplify their voices in local and state policy initiatives. We are especially grateful for Teresa’s unwavering commitment to educational equity and the power of ALL of San Francisco’s communities. A signature program launched during Teresa’s tenure is the Parent & Family Leaders Program, which deepens our organizational connections to family leaders in San Francisco’s Black, Latinx, and Chinese communities and builds the capacity of leaders and their communities. We could never thank Teresa enough for her service to to PPS-SF and San Francisco public schools. Goodbyes are always difficult so we are going to phrase things as see you later. Parents for Public Schools San Francisco has engaged Hayin Kimner as interim Executive Director. We look forward to continuing our organization’s work on behalf of SFUSD students and families.

"The data on racism is compelling. By some measures, it's getting worse. According to the Pew Research Center, a majority of Asian adults (58%) say it is more common for people to express racist or racially insensitive views than it was before the coronavirus outbreak. Black adults (45%) also say it is more common."
