A member of the Crovidae family, the Western-scrub Jay ( ) is a boisterous and clever bird that will begin caching acorns at the start of the fall season. . These jays can recall the locations of dozens of caches several months afterward, and they'll need to in order to ensure a steady supply of food during the winter. . They've even been known to re-bury their treasure if they suspect another animal witnessed them hiding that food in the first place. ... . The Western-scrub jay can be found browsing in chaparral areas of the park. Their cousin, the Stellar's jay ( ), is a very similar bird that is more commonly found in wooded areas. See more
