It is our distinct honor to announce that C/LtCol (soon to be C/Col) Justin Hoekman of the Tahoe-Truckee Composite Squadron has passed all portions of his Spaat...z Exam. This is an achievement attained by only the top-tier of cadets, after many years of hard work. On the average, only five cadets out of every thousand are successful. To give you an idea of how special it is, that equates to one-half of one percent of all cadets in Civil Air Patrol. As of August 2020, there have been only approximately 2300 Spaatz Awards ever earned since the inception of the Award in 1964. Congratulations and well done, Cadet Hoekman! #CAPCadet #spaatz http://www.spaatz.org//the-general-c/spaatz-award-history/

Congratulations to outgoing Oregon Wing Commander Col Bill Ray on a succussful four year term and for receiving the Distinguished Service Award and to incoming Commander Col Nick Ham on his promotion to the grade of Colonel and on assuming command of the Oregon Wing. The Oregon Wing is continuing in its tradition of strong and insightful leadership.
Airmen of the Pacific Region Today, I had the honor of attending the virtual graduation of the final National Staff College. Pacific Region graduated 13 members. As well as had 6 members of the region serving on staff. Thank you all for your hard work during this very challenging year.
Airmen of the Pacific Region Today, as you and your families celebrate a socially-distanced Independence Day, please remember what those that came before us to ensure the liberties that cherish. We are all enduring challenging times but we, as Americans, have endured challenging times before and we always have come out of them stronger. Continue to be safe and take care of your loved ones. Semper Vigilans,... Col Jon Stokes, CAP Commander, Pacific Region
In cooperation with CAP-USAF and Rocky Mountain Region, Pacific Region is hosting an on-line learning series to prepare for next year’s multi region operations evaluation. Thanks to all that worked so hard preparing for this 4 week learning series.
CAWG doing their part during the COVID-19 crisis to see that the students of the Los Angeles Unified School District continue to get nutritious meals while schools are closed. Thank you to Col Ross Veta and his team for showing what CAP can do for the community.
PCR Commander Col Jon Stokes meeting with American Red Cross Los Angeles Region Disaster Program Officer Joselito Garcia Ruiz, a former CAP cadet from the Puerto Rico Wing, to discuss CAP’s participation in the food distribution mission in Los Angeles as a result of the COVID-19 related shutdown of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
As your PCR commander, I visited two locations in Los Angeles where California Wing members are assisting the American Red Cross in distributing food to Los Angeles Unified School District families in light of the COVID-19 school closures. I am extremely proud of our members and their dedication to the community during this crisis. Being there for our fellow Californians in their time of need is why we do what we do. Semper Vigilans!
Civil Air Patrol sUAS pilots from around the nation deployed to the American Samoa territory this week to help with typhoon drone photography. The sUAS team from left to right below: Capt Carl Wiley of WAWG, 2d Lt Jason Dzurisin of HIWG, Col Larry Ragland of NCWG, and Lt Col Karl Moore of WAWG. Thank you for your service to the people of American Samoa. #CivilAirPatrol
All of our wing commanders are much better prepared to address IG issues as a result of the Inspector General Refresher Course given by Col Tim Hahn for the Pacific Region Wing commanders at the annual commanders call in Kauai. Thank you Col Hahn for all that you do for PCR.
The selfie tradition continues with the 40 outstanding cadets attending The PCR Cadet Officers Basic Course. Cadets representing all six PCR wings were in attendance in addition to one from RMR. This selfie is bittersweet as it my last COBC selfie as region commander. It was an honor to address the cadets and participate in their graduation. They all worked hard and I am confident that the leadership skills they learned this last week will serve them and CAP well for many years to come. Well done by Lt Col George Ishikata and his leadership team for another outstanding course.
