This video is of one of the most rare hot air balloon flights one can make. With the airspace restrictions that are in place over the Grand Canyon, the wind di...rection must be perfect in order to "thread the needle" and make the long flight across. Congratulations Jon Radowski on yet another successful flight. Congratulations to the other pilots that joined Jon on this flight. Enjoy this short video of the flight made yesterday, Dec 15, 2020. It was too foggy to fly this morning so I watched balloon builder/tinkerer extraordinaire Mike Kuehlmuss demonstrate his Hopper Chopper creation! Note how the balloon system, carry bag (hamper), landing gear, and inflator fan/propulsion system are all integrated.

Don Piccard died at the respectable age of 95. He was called the Father of the Modern Sport Balloon. A Ballooning Legend. I met him for the first time in 2003 on the old NATO base in Chambley France where he let me help him with his experimental Pleiades system. Rest In Peace.

LIVE: Today, The Great Reno Balloon Race takes flight with local pilots to commemorate what would have been the organization’s 39th annual spectator event. As t...oday also represents a significant time in history, we thought it appropriate to launch this display in honor of our first responders and front line workers who have worked tirelessly to keep our country and residents safe. While we cannot welcome our fans to experience the event in person this year, we hope that this display provides a sense of magic and hope for the future. *NOTE: WASHOE COUNTY AND THE GREAT RENO BALLOON RACE’S PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY IS TO KEEP THE COMMUNITY SAFE. WITH THIS NOTE, WE WOULD LIKE TO EMPHASIZE THERE IS NO 2020 EVENT. THE PARK IS CLOSED SO PLEASE ENJOY THIS FLIGHT VIA FACEBOOK LIVE* #RenoBalloonRace
