As we reflect on the true significance of Juneteenth, today we remember and celebrate the lives of trailblazing beauty entrepreneurs like Nobia A. Franklin. A T...exas beautician, Franklin opened her first salon in 1910 and created the Franklin School of Beauty Culture in 1917 to train more Black women in her trade. Over a century later, the school remains a fixture in the Houston community as the oldest continuously operating licensed cosmetology school in Texas and continues to teach The Franklin Way. Another update....

Orange Salon 28.08.2020

Honey salon is one of my sister salons in town. This is the correct update. Even though some salons in the state of California can open, here on the island of Alameda we cannot. Not yet anyway. I would rather figure out how to navigate getting back to work without endangering myself or others. I am ready when the numbers are!!!!

A message from my industry.... The Board of Barbering and Cosmetology acknowledges and is sympathetic to the ever-changing environment that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has created for our licensees. Our role is to ensure the health and safety of California consumers by promoting ethical standards and by enforcing the laws of the barbering and beauty industry. For the safety of our consumers and our licensees, the Board continues to urge licensees to abide by the Gover...nor’s stay at home order. We have heard of businesses disregarding the stay at home orders. If businesses continue to put public health and safety at risk by not following the state and local shelter in place orders, and if circumstances warrant it, the Board may pursue disciplinary action against their license. This will not be taken lightly. The Board is drafting a Returning to Work Checklist for establishments for when licensees are able to reopen safely. We want to make sure we are able to maintain consumer protection and help guide our licensees when the time is appropriate and directed by the Governor. Again, the Board fully supports the Governor’s stay at home order and we expect our licensees to comply. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this time. Sincerely, The Board of Barbering and Cosmetology
