Covid-19 update for OC OC is doing pretty well. Cases are up a little, but hospitalizations and icu admissions are down. We are doing a good job of treating covid, and protecting high risk patients. Nonetheless, it is a potentially serious infection, so do what you can to stay safe. The CDC is saying that small household gatherings are driving an increase in Covid cases. Check out Kristien - he had a sleeve gastrectomy operation during our first week back operating after we restarted elective surgeries in early May. He is down 110 pounds in 4 1/2 months. Congratulations Kristien, you look like a different person!

My Gastric Sleeve surgery journey has not only changed my life but the surgery actually saved my life. Most people don’t realize how much weight they gain over the years until they try to do something about it. For years I was one of those people I was in denial about how big I gotten and made every excuse possible to avoid the topic of working out and eating right until one day I woke up and looked in the mirror and began to cry the person looking back at me wasn’t someone ...I recognized anymore. I drank a lot and ate so much it became a normal thing until one day I woke up with a fever and a really bad side ache I went to the doctors and was diagnosed with a fatty liver, high cholesterol, boarder line diabetic and obesity I weighed 220 lbs all at the age of 22 the nurse looked at me and said if you don’t make a change the way you’re going you won’t make it to see your 30th birthday. Well like anyone else that scared me so I tried to make a change by dieting. I tried every diet out there keto, slim quick, herbal life you name it I probably tried it for 1 1/2 years I tried and tried but the most I ever lost was 12 lbs talk about depression. Well so discouraged I went back to my old ways and began to drink even more than before and I gained an extra 30 more pounds so now I weighed 250 lbs at 24 years old. Again I ended up in the doctors for the same problems but this time i vowed to make a bigger change than just dieting I began to research the weight loss surgery. I researched for a good 6 months until I made my decision to go with the Gastric Sleeve. Day of surgery January 13,2020 i weighed 250 lbs. Fast forward to now 7 months later I weigh 152 lbs. I feel happier and healthier in my own body. I have a lot more energy and am able to fit in my old clothes from high school. The surgery probably prolonged my life and changed my destiny. Join Jodi Ryan Yoga (the yoga guru who led our debut Zoom support group meeting) this weekend on Zoom for her RISE workshop - rebalance and rejuvenate!

Examples of what a nice gastric sleeve looks like. Total volume about 3-3.5 oz, vs. 30-40 oz for a normal stomach. This small volume will eventually become 6-7 ounces. Average weight loss with this - 70-75% of excess weight in about 1 year.
