The Oakland California Temple was rededicated Sunday by President Dallin H. Oaks, first counselor in the First Presidency. Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles accompanied President Oaks on Sunday for the rededication, which included three sessions. . President Oaks and Elder Bednar also addressed the youth at a special devotional on Saturday. . What is here is a remarkable house of the Lord in the quality of the architecture, in the quality of all the ...finishing of the various rooms and in the beauty overall. It is marvelous, and it’s accentuated by extraordinarily beautiful original art that has been added during the restoration, President Oaks said. . The Oakland Temple Rededication is today, Sunday, June 16, 2019. Sessions will be held at 9am, 12pm, and 3pm at the temple and will be broadcast. All members of the @churchofjesuschrist within the 31 stakes of the Oakland Temple District are invited to view the broadcast at their stake centers and other designated Stake buildings. Please remember to bring a white handkerchief and your temple recommend (regular temple recommend, limited use recommend, or special one-day Rededication recommend).

The Oakland Temple Youth Devotional is tonight! This devotional is for all youth ages 11-18 in the 31 stakes of the Oakland Temple District. Doors open at 5pm. The devotional starts at 7pm at the Oakland Interstake Center. Go to Oaklandtemple.org/youth for more details about parking and the event. ** Please note, the devotional will be broadcast to Stake centers throughout the Temple district. Check with your Stake to see where it is being broadcast if you would like to watch. Only youth ages 11-18 are invited to attend the devotional at the Interstake Center (no adults).

The Manteca Choir (composed of members from Manteca, Modesto, Modesto North, and Livermore Stakes) is getting ready for the Oakland Temple Rededication! Ruth Christensen, director, had rotater cuff surgery less than 2 weeks before but was there to direct the rehearsal. Christensen, who has numerous musical credits to her name, called this opportunity, "the greatest musical opportunity of my life." There are three Oakland Temple Rededication choirs comprised of members from different areas of the Oakland Temple District. Choirs may only be composed of 20 singers each. The Oakland Temple Rededication choirs have been coordinated by Sterling and Judy Hill.
