A strained healthcare system. Mass layoffs. People feeling stressed, isolated, and alone. As COVID-19 threatens our county, it’s creating a perfect storm in the addiction world. You Can Help Here’s the situation we’re facing: ... Treatment is already too difficult to access, and with the stress on the healthcare system that’s likely to get worse. Recovery support groups, a lifeline for millions, have been cancelled. Research shows that economic struggles can lead to increased drug and alcohol use. As we respond to COVID-19, we can’t forget our nation’s addiction crisis, which kills hundreds each day. Our team is working to drive lasting structural change, so support and treatment are accessible for allnot just in times of crisis, but all the time. Will you help support this urgent work? Thank you for being a Shatterproof supporter. Our work would not be possible without you. I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy. The absolute genius of the Twelve Steps is that it refuses to bless and reward what looks like any moral worthiness game or mere heroic willpower. It spotted the counterfeit and drags it publicly behind it in a triumphal parade (Colossians 2:15). With Gospel brilliance and insight, A.A. says that the starting point and, in fact, the continuing point, is not any kind of worthiness at all but in fact unworthiness! (I am an alcoholic!) Suddenly religion loses all capacity for elitism and is democratic to the bone. This is what Jesus affirmed in prostitutes, drunkards, and tax collectors, and what Paul praised when he said, It is when I am weak that I am strong (2 Corinthians 12:10).

Sobriety isn't a weekend stop. It's not about getting somewhere and being happy someday. It's about paving the road for the rest of your life.

We, of Alcoholics Anonymous, are more than one hundred men and women who have recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body. To show other alcoholics precisely how we have recovered is the main purpose of this book. For them, we hope these pages will prove so convincing... that no further authentication will be necessary. We think this account of our experiences will help every- one to better understand the alcoholic. Many do not comprehend that the alcoholic is a very sick person. And besides, we are sure that our way of living has its advantages for all.

Step Eleven suggests prayer and meditation. We shouldn’t be shy on this matter of prayer. Better men than we are using it constantly. It works, if we have the proper attitude and work at it. It would be easy to be vague about this matter. Yet, we believe we can make some definite and valuable suggestions. When we retire at night, we constructively review our day. Were we resentful, selfish, dishonest or afraid? Do we owe an apology? Have we kept something to ourselves whic...Continue reading

Do You Think You Can Be Sucessfull In Drink & Drug ? Most of us have been unwilling to admit we were real alcoholics or addicts. No person likes to think he is bodily and mentally different from his fellows. Therefore, it is not surprising that our drinking and using careers have been characterized by countless vain attempts to prove we could drink or use like other people. The idea that somehow, someday we will control and enjoy our drinking and or using is the great obsession of every abnormal drinker and addict. The persistence of this illusion is astonishing. Many pursue it into the gates of insanity or death
