2021 CALIFORNIA PEPSI USBC YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS IS SET Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and closure of the centers, we are modifying the format of this tournament re...moving the league level qualifying. Bowlers can now enter directly into the District Finals (March) as long as they are entered in a California youth league for the 2020-21 season and have current 2020-21 USBC Youth Membership. If centers are still closed February 1, 2021, then we will unfortunately have to cancel. Visit us at www.CalUSBC.com for tournament details and tournament packets. Youth Program Directors will be emailed their tournament packets directly from their Pepsi District Director. The deadline to enter is February 18, 2021 and we are using the same hosting centers as last year. Pepsi jerseys are also for sale. The new design and matching face masks are available for purchase online at www.Strike12Creations.com. We are looking forward to the centers re-opening soon so that we can all get back out on the lanes! Dear California bowlers, Bowling centers in California need your help. As avid bowlers, we need you to make your feelings and sentiments known to Governor Newsom and key California state officials. Please click here to go to the Bowling Centers of Southern California's site, where you can send a pre-written email to the California state officials. With your help, we will petition the state with thousands of emails to push them to allow bowling centers to reopen, and for you t...o return to your favorite bowling center, reunite with your friends and compete in the sport that you love. Thanks in advance for your help. Let’s get California bowling centers reopened together! Sincerely, Bowling Centers of Southern California (BCSC) Nor Cal Bowling Centers (NCBS) ACT NOW California Bowling Proprietors Association, 621 Six Flags Dr, Arlington, TX 76011

If you bowled league at Pickwick you knew Bob Olivia. A kooky Afro, a big smile, a cigarette & a glass of wine...this was Bobby. Bobby was a long time, excellent secretary of Wednesday & Sunday night leagues. The association appreciated his timely award applications & his willingness to help. For a lengthy time, he was the house representative for the association at Pickwick.... You may have been handed an award by Bobby...so yes, you knew him. Bobby passed away this past week. He is survived by his only son, Nick Olivia. Bobby is now safe in the arms of his beloved Vicki, who we lost last year. Rest In Peace, Bobby. See more

Almost every bowler in the valley area was aware of Valley Bowling Supply. Created by innovative entrepreneur in the bowling equipment industry, Chuck Reese. If you hadn’t purchased a bag or had a bowling ball drilled there, you knew someone who did! Chuck was always thinking & producing bowling equipment that would be a step up from what currently existed. Maybe you had an awesome KC triple or double ball rolling bag. Thank Chuck for that beauty! Chuck not only talked the talk, he walked the walk, too, by supporting the local association, and helping bowlers of all ages. It is with great sadness we share the news of his passing. RIP Chuck. You were one of a kind. (11-1-1940 to 9-11-2020)

NEWS FROM USBC RULES No balance holes starting Aug. 1 The rule eliminating balance holes in bowling balls takes effect Aug. 1, the start of the 2020-2021 bowling season. The rule states all holes in a bowling ball must be used on every delivery; any hole not used is considered a balance hole, making the ball illegal.... Bowlers who do not use their thumb no longer can have a thumb hole, as it now is considered a balance hole. They also need to mark their ball to show where they place their palm on delivery.

From Karen Thomson I wanted to let you know that long time Antelope Valley bowler, Jeff Malan, passed away on June 26, 2020. Jeff bowled his way through the AVYABA and onto adult leagues boasting a high average of 226 with four 300 games (including one on a sport shot) and an 800 series. Jeff was born with Cystic Fribrosis and had a double lung transplant 10 years ago. He once told me that he felt like Super Man after recuperating from the procedure. His favorite thing to ...do was just take a deep breath. Jeff had a HUGE heart and a pool of friends the size of an ocean. He retired from bowling in 2016, but was still a big bowling fan. He also enjoyed any kind of car racing, from Nascar to Dragsters - if it had an engine, he loved it! Jeff is survived by his Mom, Diane, who dedicated her life to making every day Jeff lived, worth living, his Brother Kevin, Sister in Law Heather, and Nephews Liam and Cason. wanted to let you know that long time Antelope Valley bowler, Jeff Malan, passed away on June 26, 2020.
