March 3 is Girl's Day: one of 5 seasonal holidays celebrated in Japan! This year, the Hinamatsuri comes to SJ Japantown and features Hina sets and dolls usually seen in the JAMsj Hinamatsuri exhibit. From Feb 20, they will be on display at Headliners, Shigematsu Insurance, Kogura Company, Nikkei Traditions and Roy's Station. Please be respectful, practice safe and social distancing and wear a face mask while viewing. These are working business-please respect any Covid store policies.

It is the date that EO 9066 was signed that forever changed the lives of Japanese and Japanese Americans in the United States. We are fortunate to have a collection of books and DVDs that 'won't let us forget' . . . so that we can learn, understand and never let it happen again: to anyone.

Do you know the story of how Redress was acquired? It did not happen overnight and was a very coordinated effort-it was because of redress that the stories of the incarceration became known. To many of us, 'camp' was mentioned but never explained or talked about in the home: until Redress. We are proud to carry this book at Nikkei Traditions so everyone understands the struggles and emotions behind 'Redress'.
