The First Friday Award Ceremony recognizes the awards, achievements and milestones of our active-duty and civilian Navy team. Held on the first Friday of the month (usually), the ceremony begins with a robust recitation of the Corpsman Creed, followed by a reading of the names of our deployed shipmates. This First Friday Award Ceremony, Feb. 4, was officiated by Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Twentynine Palms Commanding Officer, Captain Grant C. Wallace, Executive Officer, Captain Aaron D. Werbel, and Command Master Chief, HMCM Mary A. Matthews. This award ceremony also included the frocking ceremony of two Sailors pinned to the next highest rank. (U.S. Navy photos by Dave Marks, NHTP PAO; released)

Lt. Renee Crisman, Medical Service Corps, and Ens. Jochelle Malcalma, registered nurse, deployed to the San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, N.M., as part of the FEMA support of civilian hospital operations to assist with the critically-ill COVID-19 influx. They spent their Christmas assisting patients and undergirding the beleagured local clinic staff. Crisman and Malcalma have returned to New Mexico and are assisting staff at the University of New Mexico Hospital, Albuquerque, where, as the reporter states: "The hospital continues to operate under crisis standards of care at between 130 and 140 percent capacity." According to the report, their team is a "major morale booster." Please see the clip below featuring Ens. Malcalma. https://www.kob.com//unmh-thankful-for-us-navy-t/6374942/
