News is making the rounds since last night that Eddy Jennings passed away. Eddy was a key person running the I-Beam nightclub on Haight Street in the latter 80s into the 90s, and he took a chance on a couple knuckleheads, offering up a Tuesday night in 1992 to throw a DJ dance event called the "I-Beam Reunion Party," that turned into New Wave City. I knew Eddy slightly before that - he sort of chuckled and doubted we would have much of a turn out, and then congratulated us on... our success, happy to book us again. Eddy booked countless touring and local bands into the club's schedule. He moved to LA many years ago, and I stopped into the venue I heard he was involved in, found him there, and had a fun short reunion. Later still, he was battling cancer, and in 2015, a benefit concert was held at the Regency in SF to help him with medical costs. Eddy's dedication to music brought happiness to fans, success to venues, and support to many artists. Thanks for everything Eddy. See more
