#StudentSpotlight Welcome Navy Medicine's newest recipient of the Medical Corps Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP): ENS Shane Davis. He will be attending WesternU, class of 2025! "My name is Shane Davis and I am from Huntington Beach, California. I played a bunch of sports in high school, and had some injuries that ended in surgery. This is how I found my interest in the medical field. I wanted to go to medical school, but financially it seemed unrealistic, until ...my grandfather (an Air Force veteran) convinced me to look into the Military. With HPSP I can now accomplish my goals as well as serve my country. I chose to join the Navy because I have always enjoyed living near the ocean. I plan to one day become an anesthesiologist for the Navy." Well done, Sir, and congratulations! #MotivationMonday Meet the newest recipient of the Medical Corps Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP): Alexis Samples. Welcome aboard, Ma'am!!! ... "I have a desire to serve in the Navy because I have seen second-hand, through my dad’s and wife’s military service, that the Navy is not only a career but also an opportunity to pursue my passion. By pursuing my passion for medicine through the Navy I will earn a sense of purpose and pride through my service just as my family has done before me. My journey in pursuing medicine thus far has been very tough, but I can say today with excitement that all my hard work has paid off. I was recently accepted into the class of 2025 at Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, and I do not have to worry about anything except getting my degree since I also received the Navy HPSP this year. I would like to especially thank my recruiter, LT Rosario for all the time he has spent over the past two years helping and inspiring me so that I could reach my goals." - A. #FeatureFriday McClain Vale San Clemente, CA Medical Corps HPSP Applicant... I chose to pursue a career as a Navy physician for several reasons. Firstly, the chance to serve the greatest country in the world, one that’s afforded me the opportunity to pursue my boyhood dream of becoming a physician, was a prospect I couldn’t pass up. Next, I’m eager to serve a patient population consisting of our nation’s heroes, individuals who sacrifice everything for American ideals: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Finally, I chose to pursue a career as a Navy physician because of a heart’s calling to something greater than myself. #mchpsp #hpsp #navyhpsp #doctorlife #tuitionfree #medschool #navyrecruiter #forgedbythesea #gonavybeatarmy

#FeatureFriday on Black Friday! Can’t beat this deal of a lifetime!!! Welcome, Navy newest recent recipient of the Dental Corps Health Services Collegiate Program (HSCP): Officer Candidate Petty Officer First Class Michael Nguyen. My journey to dental school all began when I first started volunteering at dental clinics that provided free services to the homeless, families from low-income backgrounds, rehabilitating veterans, and also non-English speakers. I enj...oyed the aspect of working with my hands to provide tangible and instantaneous satisfaction for diverse patients while listening to their stories. Through the U.S. Navy, I will be able to continue this service on humanitarian missions abroad and here domestically. I am proud and honored to say I am officially a part of something bigger than myself as of today. - OC1 Michael Nguyen #navymedicine #dentistry #navydentist #forgedbythesea #navyrecruiter #whoisnext

#FeatureFriday Tianna Quesenberry: Medical Corps, Health Professions Scholarship Program's latest recipient "After a circuitous journey fraught with setbacks and forays into science, I have reached a long coveted checkpoint. Today, I was accepted into medical school. My decision to become a doctor was built upon my upbringing in a close-knit rural community, an innate curiosity about the scientific underpinnings of life, and life lessons that had imparted the value of ser...vant leadership. My decision to pursue my calling in the context of Navy Medicine stemmed from a core desire to be bigger than my own self. The US Navy has a proud, longstanding tradition of nurturing and amplifying individual gifts and talents into a cohesive force with the strength, honor, and merit necessary to protect those it serves. While my passion, motivation, and work ethic saw me to this inspiring moment and speaks to my capacity to exact positive change, I can do more, reach further, aim higher as a Navy physician. In accepting the incredible honor and responsibility to serve those who protect us, I open myself to unparalleled training and experience. With an acceptance to medical school in one hand and an HPSP scholarship in the other, I find myself on the precipice of something greater than myself. In the meantime, I’ll continue to enjoy hiking, reading, writing, and spending time with my American Bulldog mix, Misha." Congratulations, Tianna Quesenberry, on your med school acceptance!
