Even though we couldn’t gather today in the Grove for World AIDS Day, we are keeping the tradition of reading newly engraved names of those lost, those who loved them, and friends of the Memorial. #AIDS #WorldAIDSDay

Each year on World AIDS Day, the Quilt team works with hundreds of partners to arrange in-person Quilt displays around the country. This year for health and safety reasons that isn’t possible due to Covid-19. The proceeds from Quilt displays account for more than half of the Quilt’s operating budget, helping ensure the care and conservation of the Quilt’s 48,000 panels. To ensure continued funding in the year ahead, the National AIDS Memorial is organizing a virtual Quilt ...exhibition that will feature Quilt displays from individuals and organizations representing all 50 states and U.S. territories. We hope you will consider being a virtual display host and support this important endeavor. With your $500 donation we will curate and feature a selection of beautiful Quilt blocks of your choice along with your personalized narrative to accompany the display. The exhibition will launch November 16th in advance of World AIDS Day thru March 31, 2021. Through this exhibition, we hope the power and beauty of the Quilt can provide hope and comfort to those suffering loss and grief from Covid-19 and remind people from all around our nation that the Quilt remains a symbol of compassion, healing and remembrance that can inspire people and transform indifference into action. Sign up today -- we invite you to learn more and be part of this historic exhibition. www.aidsmemorial.org/2020virtual See more

Our community mourns the loss of a dear and loyal friend, Randy Schiller. For many years, Randy was the sound, lighting and video master for iconic San Francisco clubs and bars such as I-Beam, The Box, Trocadero Transfer, Detour, Badlands, Midnight Sun, Moby Dick, Phoenix, and others. It was Randy who first brought magic to the Redwood Grove in the early years of our annual fundraising gala, Light in the Grove - magical lighting, sound effects, and ethereal glowing fireflies. Randy gave generously to his community in so many different ways. He was a longtime, generous supporter of the National AIDS Memorial and other organizations such as The Richmond/Ermet Aid Foundation and the AIDS Emergency Fund. Thank you for everything, Randy - our love for you will live on.

The National AIDS Memorial joins with our nation in mourning the loss of an icon, a leader, a voice for all. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was an inspiration to so many and we are forever thankful for her service to our nation. We hope you take some time to watch this powerful interview with Justice Ginsburg where she talks about women’s issues, gay marriage and social justice, among other important issues. She was a trailblazer! #RBG #rbgforever

Each year the San Francisco Flagging in the Park committee supports the National AIDS Memorial by donating proceeds from its annual event held in the Grove. Due to COVID-19 they weren’t able to gather in person so they’ve created an online auction. The art of flag dancing, more commonly referred to as flagging, is the undulation, spinning and waving of flags in a rhythmic fashion to music. For over two decades, the National AIDS Memorial has been honored to partner with the flagging community to provide a location in the Grove where hundreds gather annually to display and celebrate a developing art form. At its core, flagging is a celebration of life and hope for a future free of AIDS, stigma, and divisiveness. We hope you will consider supporting the auction.
