Redwood Hill Farm 27.06.2021

Some of our yearlings enjoying the way too brown for June grass next to one of our 3 roof water catchment tanks. Although our roof water catchment tanks did not totally fill, we still have a good amount to use during this severe drought. The goats are now drinking rain water that was collected months ago. We all hope for early Fall rains here.

Goat Transport Complete! Wednesday we left on a cross country trip with a full trailer of goats. All have now been successfully dropped off to their new owners. Last to be picked up was a new saanen buck in Tennessee by Edelweiss Farm today. Thanks to everyone who purchased kids and milking stock from our farm this year!

Another way we strive for greater sustainability is with our rainwater catchment tanks, which collect about 100,000 gallons of winter rainwater for use during dry summer months. This minimizes ground water use which enables the creek to be viable for Coho salmon. https://redwoodhillfarm.org/about-us/sustainability/ #sustainability #localfarm #sonomacounty #waterwednesday #watercatchment

SG Redwood Hills Talisman River 12*M was the last daughter born from our Rima, and greatly resembles her dam right down to her sweet personality. River has been milking thru for 2 years now, milking over 3000lbs as a yearling, and is now confirmed bred to +*B Olentangy OAA Chimay for late February kids. Hopefully we have some shows in 2021 so that River can make it into the ring! https://redwoodhillfarm.org/g/redwood-hills-talisman-river/
