The University Eastside Community Collaborative (UECC) AmeriCorps joined the 2021 Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service by hosting a virtual service project on Monday, January 18, 2021. Seventy-six AmeriCorps members and participants learned about the legacy and impact of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and created appreciation cards for community members. This year’s day of service focused on acknowledging those who serve and those who may feel isolated during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Late last night, Congress released its 2018 spending bill and the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) the federal agency that oversees AmeriCorps received a $34 million increase, YouthBuild USA received a $5 million increase, and the Peace Corps was level funded.
