PSA from Officer Artie: Hello everyone, the dog day's of summer are here. Even when you put your car in bark in the shade and crack the window, the hot tempertures can stll cause a paw-blem and your four-legged friends can overheat. For the safety of your furry friends and to keep you out of the dog house, keep them at home. Remember, if an officer finds a dog in distress an officer is authorized to enter the vehicle and the owner maybe be subject to arrest.

Mt Shasta Fire Department Suspends Outdoor Residential Burning Mt Shasta, Ca - California is entering its second consecutive dry year and braces for what could be another devastating wildfire season. While wildfires are a natural part of California's landscape, the fire season in California and across the West is starting earlier and ending later each year. Climate change is considered a key driver of this trend. Warmer spring and summer temperatures, reduced snowpack, and e...arlier spring snowmelt create longer and more intense dry seasons that increase moisture stress on vegetation and make forests more susceptible to severe wildfire. The increasing fire danger posed by dead grass and hotter, drier conditions in the region is prompting Mt. Shasta Fire to suspend all bum permits for outdoor residential burning within the City limits. This suspension takes effect June 1st, 2021 and bans all residential outdoor burning of landscape debris such as branches and leaves. Each ofus need to do our part to prevent a wildfire while outdoors this year. Since January 1, 2021 firefighters across the state have already responded to over 2,615 wildfires. Mt. Shasta Fire is asking residents to take extra time to ensure that they are prepared for wildfires by maintaining a minimum of 100 feet of Defensible Space around every home and building on their property, and being prepared to evacuate if the time comes. Here are some tips to help prepare your home and property: Clear all dead or dying vegetation 100 feet around all structures. Landscape with fire resistant/drought tolerant plants Find alternative ways to dispose of landscape debris like chipping or hauling it to a biomass energy facility For additional information on how to create Defensible Space, Home Hardening, Evacuation Planning and how to be prepared for wildfires, as well as tips to prevent wildfires, visit https ://mtshastaca. gov/ emergency-preparedness/

On 2/14/2021 at approximately 1600 hours, the Mount Shasta Police Department with the assistance of the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office, executed a search warrant on a home in Carrick. On 2/6/2021 the department received a report of stolen property from a residence at the Chateau Shasta trailer park in Mount Shasta. It was determined that approximately $10,000 in various items and belongings were stolen. The victim knew the suspects as Jacob Gordon (age 34, from Weed) and M...ichael Valenzuela (age 38, from Dunsmuir). After a thorough investigation and multiple interviews with witnesses, probable cause was established for the basis of a search warrant at a home in Carrick to attempt to recover the stolen property. During the execution of the search warrant, nearly all the stolen property was recovered. Gordon and Valenzuela, who were on-scene at the time of the search, were arrested on charges of possession of stolen property. Additional charges were also requested for consideration by the District Attorney's Office. We are happy to have been able to reunite valuable stolen property with its owner in this case and bring those responsible to justice. While the suspects have been arrested in this case, anybody with further information regarding this theft is encouraged to contact the Mt. Shasta Police Department, reference case 2102M-0088.
