Look who stopped by...Danny Lopez is a local guitar player/singer and friend to Mr Joeys Music. A few weeks back, Danny stopped by the shop and met Nick, who is also a friend to the shop. Nick has been struggling and has been homeless and on the streets for many years. Nick loves music and Busks for money to eat. Danny was touched by Nicks positive attitude about life and music and after Nick left, Danny decided to help Nick... out by giving him one of his Classical guitars, as Nicks guitar is almost unplayable..Danny dropped off the guitar yesterday and a couple hours later Nick came in and Joey presented it to him....Nick was blown away by Danny's generosity and told us to thank him...Danny Lopez is not only a San Diego icon, but also a warm and caring man that not only looks out for his fellow musicians, but also his fellow man.... The Humble Shop Owner---A few days back, a woman called, asking directions to the shop. About an hour later, I saw her outside and she seemed a bit frazzled. I went outside and asked her if she was "Ebony", the woman who called...and yes she was! She had an older guitar that she had just bought on Craigslist and asked me if we could repair it. as it is a Holiday gift for her daughter. The guitar (pics #2 & #3) is in pretty bad shape, but I did not have the heart to tell her t...hat the woman who sold it to her took total advantage of her. As we talked , I found out that it has been a terrible year for her. She has lost sight in her right eye, lost her Drivers Licence, her Job.....and Husband, all due to an Auto Immune disease that her Doctor has not fully diagnosed as of yet. Mr Joey came over and looked the guitar over and asked her nicely if she could get her money back? Ebony said no and sadly put her head down and thanked us for our time. Mr Joey, being the person he is, said that if she left the guitar, he would do his best to fix it. She smiled and thanked us and called Uber to pick her up. I watched Joey work on the guitar for 2 hours. As I closed up the shop, Joey was setting up a new guitar and asked me if I thought that Ebony would like the New guitar that he had just setup? Well....Ebony came into the shop a few minutes ago when I brought out the Vonax guitar, the tears ran down her face. She said it was the best Christmas present and her daughter would love it. Joey does not know that I am writing this and that I am going to post this, but I just wanted you to know what kind of person I work with.....Merry Christmas Ebony...Merry Christmas Mr Joey...And a Big Merry Christmas to all of the people that have supported us over the past 10 years...And what is Joey doing right now?.....Setting up another guitar that will make someone else smile on Christmas day......Merry Christmas Everyone!!! "Summer In The City", was a hit song in 1966 and was named as one of "The 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time", by "Rolling Stone Magazine" Mark Sebastian co-wrote it with his brother John Sebastian and it became a huge hit for John's band "The Lovin Spoonful". Mark Sebastian just bought a beautiful 1994 Epiphone EJ 212 from Mr Joey's Music Shop, to add to his collection!
