Big shout out to Monica Gonzales who celebrates her 6-year anniversary at our box today! It was this day 6 years ago she took her first class, and what’s most amazing is that in that time she’s been incredibly consistent, completing over 1300 classes to date! Congrats, Monica!
I only need protein if I want to bulk up, right? Ehhh.. No. Protein is an incredibly important building block for so much more than just muscle repair and recovery. And unfortunately, most of us are simply not getting enough through our diets. For the NCFIT/VALLEY STRONG #HABITBETTER challenge, we are still focusing on what YOU SHOULD eat and not worrying about what NOT to eat. We talked veggies, now we talk protein. ... WHY PROTEIN? Because GAINS! Ok, all jokes aside, protein is the building block for every tissue and organ in your body. In order to function at its best, your body needs an abundance of those necessary building blocks. Protein will also help with satiety, which is just a fancy word for you’ll feel full longer. This means less cravings and less temptation to grab that unnecessary snack or binge on the foods you should be eating in moderation. HOW MUCH? No food scale required! Aim for adding one serving of protein with each of your three daily meals. One serving can be measured as approximately the size of your palm.
